Co-op and choosing your king/queen/knight(or samurai)

I'm not sure if it's not implemented in the game or I just don't know how to do it, but when playing coop our partner cant seem to choose what king/queen they want to play as. Nor can they change their color scheme.

I'm hoping its already implemented in the game and someone found out how to change their king/queen

I cant even figure out how to choose king/queen or play with the Shogun template in single player let alone co-op

single player you just press the down arrow or s key when it shows you your king/queen

Playing as king or queen is decided in the loading screen when you start a fresh save, you can choose left or right with the directional keys, just look out for it. I havn't worked out how to pick samurai yet.

You can only use the Shogun monarchs while playing a campaign on the Shogun setting.

But my question is, how do you choose when joining another persons game?
