Unemployyed citizens, untapped resource?
The pikeman fishing is neat, why the unit and that function is removed from Shogun is beyond me, but rather than pikeman fishing, what about unemployeed citizens fishing, another function they could do is wander the whole length of the kingdom collecting loose coin and bring it to the banker every morning, this could also help alliviate the major annoyance of a ton of jobless citizens staying in the castle center making it nearly impossible to give coin to the bank.

But why do you not make those jobless citizens into archers or farmers?

When you return to an island, or develop one to near completion, you usually wind up with a crap ton of them, I've had it where I've emptied 5 full bags of coin and barely put a dent in them.

The unemployed do collect the coins, 2, just like the builders I think. Now I do agree that walking up to every one of them to collect can be tedious, but it is kind of nice to find a surprise few coins here and there when you need them. Here's a trick that I use. Let them keep the coins. When you create a job (buy bow) and they walk up to get it, they basically pay you for it. I think the banker picks up a few coins too. I didn't give him any and sometimes he gives me a few.

I'm thinking on a larger scale, full pockets, and if you dontr het it first, it goes straight into the bank, heck, they can make a job, hire coin collectorsthat wander around , collect, and deposit.

Many times I do not give people any tool because I see I can move foward (to clear the island and/or to sail for the next) and still be safe. Also to avoid paying tools twice, as decay many times remove tools from them; so I only pay for tools when I see they strictly necessary - very different from New Lands, when I had zillion of archers just because.

oh i agree, i came back to island 3 to clear it and the decay had half of all my units jobless
i put an entire full bag of gold into nothing but bows and it didnt seem to make a difference to the total, even with a refill from the banker to do it twice

i kind of like having some unemployed walking around
and from what i've seen they do actually wander back and forth in the "kingdom"
since my pikemen dont have pockets apparently, my unemployed do the job for me, helps and those coins tend to despawn before i get them otherwise
and yea, when i recruit archers, everytime they arrive to get a bow, i get the money back

Interresting ideas, worth of adding to the game. On the other hand: I'd like the devs rather to remove all the bugs, instead of adding new (and potentially buggy) features to the game. - Just my five cents.

The banker has specific coin behavior:
  • If he has less than 10 coins, he will pick up more.
  • If he has 10 coins he will visit the bank and drop them off.
  • If he has not visited the bank today, and you are near, he will give you coins from the bank (a percentage of stored coins, but no more coins than your bag can hold).
  • If he HAS visited the bank today, he will no longer give you coins (this prevents annoying give-take loops).
