Vagrant camp inside borders
In one of my games, I have the opportunity to build a wall past a vagrant camp without having to chop down the trees. If I do so, will the camp disappear, or will I have an always safe camp?

Oh, the same question for the trader's hut.

ASCII art wise, I sort of have this;

___|W|__T__|CC|__T_____#___

Where |W| is my current outer most wall, Ts are Trees, |CC| is a vagrant camp and # is a buildable wall mound.
You will have an always safe camp. The only thing that removes vagrant camps or the trader's hut is if you cut either tree immediately next to the camp.

Nice! It worked! Nifty.. So long as I don't chop down those trees, I'll always have infinite subjects and a infinity source of coin. I lucked out here.. My trader hut is right next to my base.

You can basically do anything just dont cut down any one of those trees i put an X under them dont remove those if there are other trees you can break them but not those

Why does the game even really give you an option to destroy your only source of new people anyway?

It just feels like a trap to hurt people who don't read guides.

You need to keep those camps inside your walls. So long as there is one tree on each side it wont disappear. I always find a clearing past the camps and clear trees towards the camp until there is just one tree left.

On a lot of islands you need to break an initial camp because its so close it blocks early game expansion into large fields for rabbits. So either you can have less cash early on and more people later on. Or if you break it more cash early on and there for a faster growing economy but less people later on. :cocochan2:

you don't actually have to break those camps cause I guarantee there is a clearing on the other side of the camp you can start clearing trees from, grass will grow there just fine and as soon as you have a wall on the other side of the camp all your archers will go there and shoot rabbits.

Generally speaking the next clearing on the other side of it is forested quite a bit so it would take a while to clear that way this is referring to when you first roll up on a island and you can either break it and get a better economy early. leave it and get more people later. Or spend a large amount of time to do both but not super early on. :cocochan2:

in the long run, people will be more important. i can get that wall on the outside built before i even have stone walls so you really should be keeping the camp that long anyway

the grass is gone if you build a wall, and the rabbit is gone FOREVER
loganjamesalex Dec 20, 2018 @ 6:03pm
but there is more grass on the other side and that's where the archers go

Not really you sometimes can not chop down the tries behind the camp and if ther is a portal builders will not go there pus if your archers destroy a portal by accident red moon will destroy u istantly esp. without strong walls.

Take this from someone who played over 70hrs of the original. Even if there is no clearing until after the first portal, you are still better off just having the one wall before the camp on that side. Then build up that wall, when it is 2nd level of stone you are more than able to hold off anything until you have squires. All you need is one squire holding coins with a full team of archers to take out a portal. If you destroy the first portal before day 20 the blood moon isn't so bad either. But if you destroy the camp and don't have a steady supply of vagrants, (island 2 for example sometimes only has one vagrant camp inside the first 2 portals) you probably will never be able to destroy the portal because you won't have enough people to even make a squire team.
