Why Hermit? Why?
She just decided to jump out when my army is attacking the portal! Then she ended up kidnaped into the portal... I know she's scared of greed... but why?

Hermits drop off at night if outside of the walls

Thanks. Another question. Can i get my hermit back? or How to make them stand at my castle?

Even if they stay at the castle sometimes they wander of to the edge of the first wall.
I wanted to upgrade my tower to the bakery and at the same time I was attacked. I couldn't hire her again in time before the greed grabed her.
Now I have a bakery without the baker. Hope there will be a second one on another island...
Really annoying and it also happened with the stable master (the woman on the second island).

So this is what I've discovered about the characters that can mount up on your mount. If you attempt to leave your castle (Or return for some reason) AT NIGHT when the greed are about to attack, they will dismount and walk towards the center of town. I don't know why they get off WHEN YOUR RETURNING to your castle, because I've lost my hermit to that a couple times that it annoyed me, I feel like it's a bug since it didn't work this way in new lands.

Also, despite their wierd dismounting behavior, they are a bit smarter than they were before, they will try to keep themselves within your walls at all times, but they will not attempt to flee from greed when they are attacking any faster than they normally walk.

As for getting them back, if you lose your crown, you will return to the first island, but ANYTHING purchased with gems previously can be reactivated with coins, when you return to that building, you can pay coins to get a brand new hermit to reuse again. However if you haven't lost your crown yet, there is no way I can tell to get your hermit to return in your current run. Another neat thing about this game, is after you lose your crown, all the islands you went too before are restored with a very large population, but it's mostly archers and every wall is destroyed and needs rebuilding. This means however that any farm you placed is still active in the exact place, and if you cleared the portals on the side of the dock the island is safe from that direction forever.

What you should really be careful of is getting any gems stolen or lost, I don't think those can be replaced at all, I started a new save file because I believed this was the case. If you feel losing your crown is inevitable, try to spend all your gems beforehand. Or avoid opening the gem boxes by running past them instead of walking.

You do not need the hermit to run the bakery, only to construct it

@Zangdaarr I know but I need one to open another bakery on another island if there shouldn't be a second one.
If what [82DK-AR]Zackreaver said is true there might be a slight chance if you still have some islands to discover.

I lost my hermit in a game and they came back on the next island. Dunno how common that is but all hope might not be lost!
