EDIT: After tweaking Proton somewhat, I restored the audio. The fix seems Proton-specific and carries its own downsides, so I think Windows users are out of luck here.
If you're running the game in Proton, though, just add the launch option "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" (no quotes) and it should it work. Your mouse will no longer work with in-game menus, however. (The rest of the game is unaffected, and you can navigate menus with the arrow keys.)
Thank you so much! I wanted to play this game on my new steam deck and your fix worked GREAT! (Albeit I had to select a different compatibility version of proton in the game's properties, but it worked. Love the gyro built in features of the deck to help with aiming.
Hey, no problem, glad I could help! I was hoping that the problem would be fixed on Proton 7.x. by now but I guess not? Haven't really gotten to testing it on newer versions.
no way dude, you are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ genius, I would have NEVER found a way to get this working especially since this is such an unknown game and I was exited to replay it at will on my steam deck, thank you SO SO SO MUCH, you've single handedly made it possible for me to play one of my ALL time favorites on my steam deck, thank you!!
