About the heating and cooling
Just checking if I understood the new mechanics correctly, minions will lose morale and smarts more quickly if the temperature is too hot or too cold, is that correct? I'm supposed to bring the temperatures to comfortable levels wherever the minions might congregate? Heaven forbid I actually provide insulating clothing instead.

I haven't noticed a difference, but regarding heat-generating machinery like the control room repeaters or the power generators, do they deteriorate faster if it's too hot? I think maybe they won't deteriorate at all if they're cold. Please tell me I'm not just seeing things.

You can get upgrades to make minions resist to too hot or too cold temperatures via engineering

Yeh generators seem to break immensely faster than before due to the fact they're always hot if you build them near each other. I'm having to spam comical amounts of Industrial Air conditioners and I still can't get them to be lower than "Melting" if 2 are placed next to each other. Meaning I need to use about 3-4 more space to make a room for generators.. which was ALREADY way too big due to how many you need. If you get them to normal heat, they barely break down.

Some rooms like the upgraded communication systems are also near impossible to keep cool if you have them build in the way.. they were designed to be built....and moving air conditioners 1 square results in "melting" or "cold." This system is absolutely terrible.

Sounds very annoying, sure it needs balancing.

Does this mechanic also exist in base campaign or hopefuly only in the new dlc one?

I believe that it is only the DLC island. It doesn't make sense for the other islands
Ethakk Feb 9, 2022 @ 6:41pm
It says in the notes it's all islands
MaceX Feb 10, 2022 @ 5:59am
Ok I guess you are right. I guess it really didn't make sense on the other islands except maybe reducing heat.
Purple Tentacle Feb 10, 2022 @ 6:28am
Generators surrounded by heat coolers are always burning, it's really annoying.

So thats what I wanted to find out.

All islands / base campaign have this new mechanic. Ive read enough posts about how annoying it is, to be sure it will be balanced in a patch, as it sounds ridiculously unfun.

So what I wanted to find out has been answered: I better keep holding on to play, as this patch and dlc seem amazing, but also introduced a yet to be balanced mechanic.

This heating thing was the worst idea ever. Makes it almost impossible to power the base without building a thousand cooling systems. This temperature disaster just made this game obsolete and not worth playing until it could be turned off. Thats rough, used to like this game.

You pretty much have to dedicate most of, if not an entire floor solely to power generation with this system.

Just keep giving this feedback, hopefuly the awesome community manager not only replies senseless denuvo posts from non customers, and "passes it to devs" but ALSO collects feedback from current users, and does the same. ^^

So we can get some balancing asap. We will see, we will see

New hot/cold mechanics are terrible. Hopefully they make it work better in the near future, it puts me off of using the new DLC at all.

Personally I like the system. It forces you to design your base differently and not just spam objects next to each other with narrow walkways. It gets a lot better once you get the better air conditioners and heating items, before that it is kind of rough.

Well you only really need 1-2 floors to efficently have use of the maximum minion cap, so at least there is a purpose for the other floors with having to have a large vault and power room.

They deteriorate faster if they are too hot or cold. The 3 middle tiers (warm, normal, chilly) deteriorate slower.

I have just been making a few extra technicians to help keep repairs up until I get the hand of things.
