Minions mass deserting, help!
I'm 16h into the game and I'm doing the Trojan Horse loot mission and my minions started deserting in mass! I have something like 160 minions and I put 5-6 TV stations scattered around the base. I also put air conditioners in all corridors and rooms, but I can't argin this mass desertion...
Any suggestions?

Dead bodies?

As stated by The Tempted Man, the most likely cause is an absurd amount of body bags in your minions path. Since each body bag lowers your minions loyalty a little bit they tend to abandon ship if you can't clean up fast enough after a big fight, which I am assuming is what happened right before your problem started (which is stupid cause they are working for an EVIL GENIUS.. what did they think they were going to see? candy? if only they didn't get a debuff from EVERY SINGLE BAG but only a timed one like the measly buffs they get....). As for how to solve this issue.. place a room with only incinerators inside and pray that the agents don't slaughter all your workers before you win. Either that or somehow make a path away from the main corridor (where all your minions walk) and finish the fights there.

Dead bodies lower minion morale, which leads to defection.

It usually happens to me when I don't have enough of them, they're overworked. I found techs were legging it, so assigned 5 more and they were happy again.

You want to have a mass of incenerators so that your minions will be quick on the draw with cleanup. However if you really need to buy time, the absolute best thing to do after a massive firefight is to execute someone.

Everyone that witnesses an execution will have capped morale and a brief window before it decays again.

Some side missions also cause mass deserting so it may just be the side mission.
Another cause could be that you don't have enough money to pay the minion salaries.

Minions being hit by traps also seems to make them desert I noticed.

Bodies, stinky bodies... only way I have been able to force clean up is to go into construction mode and back-fill (dirt). They will push the bags into the area you do not fill.. change the end of the hall to an incinerator and wait. Put your EG on the body pile to off the deserters as they go by for the moral boost.

Did manage to cut down on it a bit by having multiple rooms with just incinerators all through my trap hall/maze.

Could be fixed (Devs) by making the incinerator a work station so there is a minion tasked with burning per incinerator or bodies could be noted by security (if on camera) and a minion sent to deal with it similar to how it treats intruders. Alternatively regular workers should have the scripting changed so body disposal is non combat task #1.

The problem is that incinerators can only be used by one minion at a time, and they can be 'claimed' by someone nowhere near it who has just so happened to choose that one as the one they will use.

So aside from having an occasional incenerator around the base (think of it like trash cans, just have a 2x3 electric block with an incenerator carved into the wall on occasion), you want to have some centralized room with just a bunch of incenerators in it. This ensures that when you have a major firefight, an incenerator will be available for each body and the cleanup will proceed very quickly.

Must construct additional py-incinerators.

You are probably into something: I had Symmetry in my base with a bunch of level 6 agents and they decimated my minions! there were body bags all over the place and I had only 1 incinerator! I noticed that the body were not being picked up and later figured out that the queue for the incinerator is just one! I'll try to build more.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Yeah I was starting to have this problem as well, bunch of bodies piling up a ways away from my incinerator room. So I added a few more incinerators, placed a bunch of air cons and water fountains everywhere I could and made more room for EGTVs and it cleared itself up. Didn't help that the deserters would walk through my winding laser hallway and die, creating more body bags that added to the problem. But yeah just make sure you have enough incinerators and you'll be fine, I have 4 and that seems to be enough.

Just ran into this issue myself, it turns out to be the side story "Too Darn Hot", where your EG is looking for a cheap alternative to the expensive AC. All of a sudden many minion's moral dropped, look at their stats, they will all have this trait, "Heatwave; it's too hot in this lair". Even if you build a ton of EG-TV, it will be very hard to calm down the rebellion.
Took me a while to understand what was happeneing since no clue is given. I shut down all my criminal stations to avoid chaos with the heat and agents, except Alaska (N.W PATRIOTS), where you have to do the mission, and just let my minions deserting, left the high alert on so they all run like headless chickens, ... had enough funds to sustain the salaries for few days, but if this gets you too much in trouble (for future readers), re-load a previous saved game.

I do not wish to reload and see if there is a better way to deal with this, this take way too much time, I also noticed it's about a constant 10% of the minion population that is rebelling, enough to keep I.R.I.S spitting her warnings constantly, I was already at 300 minions, so there are always 30 minions in the process of deserting, it's too insane. Mission is in 3 parts, on the last stage, a group of patriots soldiers came in, alerted by the deserters, 3 were dealt by traps, the 2 remaining killed about 5 minions before my henchmen took them down, so I ended up with 119 minions, meaning about 170 desertions.

Typical EG mission, the devs are the real Evils:steammocking:

The easiest fix for this is building small rooms with 3-4 incinerators close to the chokepoints where the body bags are piling up. This worked for me all the time and i completed Max's campaign on both medium and hard and am halfway through Emma's campaign now. Also make sure you build a sufficient number of beds for your minions. If you do not have a sufficient amount, they will stall progress on many accounts and are likely to desert more often. Luxury Bed's are what you want to go for as soon as research tier unlock allows it. Following that incentive, you should have no problem with mass desertion whatsoever anymore because minions will clear out your piles in a matter of seconds with "fast forward" enabled.

Also purge any minions with disloyal trait.
