Evil Genius 2
What do Doomsday devices actually DO? (spoilers)
It's been only a couple days I know, but I can't for the life of me find anywhere on the internet that says what firing your doomsday devices at the world actually DOES and why you would want to do it.

More specifically, I have VOID in Zalika's campaign, and firing that green beam on the world map didn't do anything that I noticed. Am I missing something? The game is bad at explaining a lot of things, and this is one of the worst examples.

I dont know either, but i get the feeling that we are suppused to find it out along the way, flying blind a long time, puzzling together the things she actually says about it and what happens along the way.

I only know what Max's weapon does so far. Stop reading if you don't want to know about Max.

He has a Midas weapon that turns things to gold. When you fire it on a country, it more or less wipes it out (temporarily) and then leaves what amounts to a big glob of gold. In reality it's a mission that nets you about 250k for very little minion resource. It also has a side effect of randomly turning some of your own people into gold statues around the base. These statues can be sold for cash or put on display.
Once fired, you have to basically refuel it from missions throughout the world.

Don't know if that helps any, but there you go.

I don't know if that's the case, but even if it is, that's not a great design choice in my opinion.

Yeah I'd heard it had something to do with gold but then again so does anything and everything with Max.

I also know that Emma's can reset heat levels in the region it is fired in, saving you a mission

No clue about Zalika, and plan on playing Red Ivan next and maybe his HAVOC system will be better explained than VOID?
Zalika's doommachine gives you a scheme requires 6 sciencists, when finish that scheme, you'll get a free tech.
Level 3 beam gives level 5 tech
Level 2 beam gives level 3 tech

THANK YOU!

I had no idea that there were new schemes, that is amazing. I'll be sure to take a closer look at the world map in other playthroughs, as well.
Well...
Max's MIDAS turned things into gold. Side effect being that some of the minions will become gold
Emma's VENOM is a psychotic inducing gas. Side effect being turning some minions in the bunker hostile.
Zalika's VOID is a mind control device. (however, I have yet to build the actual doomsday weapon, so I am not sure what the side effect is)

Not sure what Ivan's HAVOC does though. Never seen or play him that far yet.
Ivan's HAVOC adds a mission in the target area that gives you a lot of cash for no heat. Probably not worth the effort of gathering all the ammo and putting out the fires just for that, though.

It's actually double mission. First is lots of cash for no heat and low cost (only basic minions, no intel). Second is similary low cost (no intel, basic minions) but this comes with gold AND heat reduction.

You complete first one which is described get "get in fast to grab stuff", while second is "While FoJ is distracted, destroy evidence... and swipe their gold"
