Minion capacity, why so little?
Is 300 really the cap of minions? I had that since before i unlocked tier3 research. Finaly i got the upgraded lockers and thought hey, more minions! Nope. Just saved some storage space on the floor.
Well, what about increasing my "Lair minion capacity" via the top row research?!
Nope. 300 is the cap. So the top row research is uuuuuuuuuuuuutterly useless. Like the first one, +10 minions? Or you can build 4 lockers for +12 minions and both works toward the same 300 cap.

Although, i only tested with rank3 of increase minions in lair research just now, but i recon its the same with the earlier/later ones as well.

So to max minions? Either build 15 compact lockers, 100 of the regular ones, skip that top row research since its useless (besides saving a tiiiny amount of floor space).

Edit: What many seems to be missing is, my point isnt that 300 is little or much, but rather that the compact lockers or the science unlocks for more minions is more or less useless.

300 is the hard cap, the research only helps to remove some lockers...

Yea I was going to ask if we were going to have to do the same thing we did to get more minions that we did in the first one and thats some files shenanigans.

Edit Also is there anything on whether or not workshop supports going to be a thing or not? or even modding in and of itself?

This is really something the game should explain somewhere =.= I've had 300 capacity since almost the very beginning, but have now spent time uselessly researching the extra minion capacity. Pffff.

It does feel a bit crippled after being spoilt by all the modded limits I have in EG, but I'm sure it's sufficient... if not such mad fun.

Maybe it's just a matter of time before someone puts together modding tools to tweak things like that here. It won't be as easy, I suspect, since we don't just have simple text config files like before.

if 300 is enough or not is not really the issue. The issue is you can get 100 lockers for 300 minion cap within the first hour of gameplay. But scentific advances to increase the population or unlocking compact lockers is more or less entirely worthles. Even more so since minions doesn't cost any upkeep, so might as well get those 100 lockers ASAP and have it as your first priority.
I would've prefered that you could only have like 100 minions with the lockers, and the science to increase lair population would increase it further, and using compact lockers you could get 200 with that + 100 from science = 300. Easy fix and would make it way more fun.

300 cap is to littel i find i got it so fast 4 level base and only 300 minion cap realy sad :(

What exactly are you going to do with more than 300 minions? No seriously, are you trying to play easy mode where you have 100000000 of everything and thus can just breeze through everything?

I never understood complaint of too low minion count. 300 is pretty good balance between having to think what minions you train, without having so few you spend constant time training them

Hahaha, amateurs! Back in my day, we played Evil Genius with max minion capacity of 100 minions - beat THAT!

Yeah, it seems a bit arbitrary. Why bother reducing locker footprint when there is so much space to build a locker room. I have a room filled with lockers to give me the 300 minions and it isn't even my largest room. Minions don't use them very often and it's tucked away in my base while the sleeping rooms are positioned near the rooms minions actually use.

I don't feel like I even need to use most of the build space, everything I need right now takes up less than half of the starting floor and basement, which is only for power and gold.
EG 1 had a limet of 100.
Granted 100 of minions who where accauly useful.
A cap of 300 seems fine to me.
I mean why would you ever need that many minions.
Other then back up for those who will die.

That said.
Arbiterty headcounts need to die.

This game needs a cap of 500, at least five new room types, a bathroom and the old system with the time clocks to manage the staff.

The minion overview is the only menu that was better in EG1 than it is in EG2. The world map is different enough to warrant the changes (some for the worse), but the minion overview is totally effed up. It's so simple with the classic pyramid view and the + and - buttons next to each minion type with a number of the current ones and the recruitment/training goals.

EG2 is a great game, but it takes all its game design from EG1, so some innovations like bigger bases and more minions fall flat on their face.

We have a bigger base, but nothing to put in it and we have three times as many minions, dropping like flies and being thrown out of the lair and into the world by the thousands.

Seeing as how the minion AI starts to fall apart once one is over 200 minions, 300 is probably a hard cap to not cause a complete breakdown of their system.
