i also went with I.R.I.S because it seemed fitting for Zalika, she's not the best combatant but i love her skills, her camera skill is so useful when i need to summon the guards to an area without cameras

what skills do they have? IRIS heals herself and acts as a camera.

I picked Eli because I thought his power of deception would be very useful... it kinda is, but it takes a very long time to recharge and works only on 1 agent at a time... which doesn't do much when dealing with a team of 5.

I picked Iris because I wanted to try her camera system and she suited the science theme. I do kinda regret it but the camera ability does help bypass the guard table issue some have been having. And she can delay soldiers at the casino door for ages. Shes a great tank

I actually find her quite useful. Her ability to instantly wipe suspicion is amazing for keeping things nice and calm. Especially if you have an agent with suspicion making a run for the exit. You don't exactly want to start a huge battle in the middle of your cover operation if you can help it. She lets you wipe their memory and send them packing quietly. Plus, her combat ability of turning the agents weapons on themselves seems to keep her at a small distance and safe from harm for a short bit at the beginning of combat. I don't regret her one bit.

She is not much use in combat. At most the equivalent of three guards, even with the tier 1 / 2 henchmen upgrades done. So far, her combat ability just did 5 damage to the enemy whenever I checked, maybe it is stronger for different enemies - it is too slow to use in actual combat, but can be used pre-combat since it doesn't count as hostile action.
If I sent her alone to fight a three-person investigator team, she loses. So far my main use of her is to put her in front of Zalinka, so Z. can do a few shots from the distance, until the hacker girl is dead. Two to three guards of four to five workers that happen to be a the correct location can dothe same job.

I did the Eli side story but at the world map it didn't give me the option to recruit him. I did the mission that said eliminate Eli and he is probably gone now.

What did I do wrong?

Eli. Can't doubt a brother who's that smooth. His persuasion ability is great, makes it easy to get rid of investigators at lvl 1 or 2 in a single move and reduce the resolve of lvl3 investigators by over half. After that he can just schmooze with them till they understand that everything is copacetic

Same, then I saw this "If you're going for full metal jackie as your henchman don't recruit Eli, Jubei, Sir Daniel, or Dr. Ming until you have her or it will lock you out, the game never tells you this"
