Arming my minions
Can i choose what to arm them with ? doesnt seem to be an option , they mostly have stun and spike batons , iv just researched the handguns , but they dont seem to be equipping them , can they carry both a gun and a baton ? can i not manually choose for them to equip a certain weapon type ?

Yea same here, and I even create a 2x2 armory just to put pistol rack in the corridors, and they don't seem to pick that up for some reason. This, on top of the stats of guards and mercs being similar, and that they are somehow very weak when fighting the poorest agent (2-4 guards to take down single bad agent), somehow it's just frustrating.

I saw multiple agents got mowed down because they come running with batons, and these agents have double pistols and just keeps shooting them down.

I've found if you delete the racks you don't want them to use, then over time as minions go on missions / die & get replaced - they'll then pickup the weapons that you have build for them.

Another weird gap in the ai. Theres a lot of those

i could be wrong cause i havent tested it out yet, but try priority in the minion manager. I think i saw guns and batons as two different priorities. though lethal vs non lethal isnt an option.

there are issues with muscle minion AI, some of them just use their FISTS, even when the baton/gun rack are not depleted

From what I've seen, it seems like once they grab a weapon off the rack that's the weapon they'll have til they die, and then presumably it's taken back to a rack or disposed of if there's no more racks for it (the weapon a guard had appears near his body bag). They could've added a fleshed out guard arming mechanic that lets you set how many of each weapon you want to arm the guards with and that kind of thing, or some kind of rearm button so all your guards will replace their current weapon with whatever weapons are available at the weapon racks. But eventually your guards will arm themselves with the weapons you want. Just make sure there's enough weapons for all your guards, each rack carries 5 weapons so you do the math. And yeah i've definitely noticed a gap in the armament of my guards, at around 110 and there are quite a few who still go into combat with their fists. Could be that you're supposed to have more weapons than you have guards to fully arm everyone, probably just bugged, game seems to be full of em atm.

they have guns but use their fists... beyond stupidity.

Anyone else notice the racks stay at 0/5 weapons? Do they regenerate on their own or is that your max per rack and thus you need multiple racks of the same type if you want all your guards armed with that weapon? I bet you need more racks eh?

When an armed muscle minion dies, they drop their weapon. Another unarmed muscle minion can pick it up directly or some other non-muscle minion picks it up to return it to the rack.

Right but I'm still wondering/guessing that you need "Muscle Minions"/5 worth of racks to ensure everyone is armed eh? Like one rack worth of pistols won't outfit 6+ guards.

Oh yeah you need more racks to arm up more muscle minions. Each rack only supplies 5 minions.

Presumably. But realistically guns jam, break, need repairs every now and then (or weapons in general), perhaps you need some extra weapons to ensure everyone is armed. That seems to be a central theme in the game; making sure there's more than enough of x to ensure y remains functional.

If I understood the mechanics correctly, ranged weapons cannot be used in melee range.

So you need melee fighters to lock enemy in place from all sides, then ranged fighters can shoot from distance. If a guard with a rifle is forced to fight with close combat enemy, then they automatically goes fist fighting.

This is why we always need at least 2 racks of batons, so some guards can act as a tank, while others can dps from the distance.
