Getting a "Access Violation" Error after the Japan level

So, I started this game yesterday, and I played it until I finished the Japan level (I think it's the third or fourth level) and when I press "Resume Game" so I can continue playing, I get a strange "Access Violation" error, which I attached to this post.
I'm playing it on Windows 7, and I already tried playing it in Win XP compatibility mode, with no success. Any sugesstions?

Nevermind, folks, I found a fix. Just disable the Next Gen effects from the main menu. You can re-enable them after you load a game.

you will run into the next error when you enter Kazakhstan.
disable the nex gen effects for Kazakhstan as well to "fix" it ;)

Yeah, I've run into a lot of them since my last post here. I decided to just play the rest of the game with the next-gen effects turned off.

The 'next gen' bug is really annoying. You'll need to make sure not to enable for Kazakhstan and Nepal (all the other levels are fine, weirdly)
