Tomb Raider: Legend

Silent crash at launch
Whenever I try to launch the game, after the Setup the game just doesn't start, steam says the game is marked "running" for half a second by steam, then nothing. Nothing appears, not even an error message. And yes, I disabled next gen content. I tried to disable everything, and the games still doesn't launch. Underworld runs smoothly, so it's not like my components aren't powerful enough.

I believe the process is running but the game does not start right? Have you tried different setting options instead and then launch the game?

No process running, everything just closes after the setup pannel. I tried the default options, the 1920x1080 def to fit my monitor, i tried to disable every option and set everything to the lowest option possible, and the games still doesn't launch. The setup pannel works fine, but that's it. I have the same type of problem with TR: Chronicles and TR Anniversary.

Alright, the problem seems to be the compatibility with your pc. It will be hard to debug it if you are not getting any error codes, but I hope someone else i able to solve this.

Well, I guess I'm good to build an XP-era machine, since running an XP virtual machine is an absolute headache...

Add trl.exe to the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) exclusion list.

Not sure what OS you're running, but on Windows 7 the path is:
Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced tab > Performance Settings > Data Execution Prevention tab

Choose "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select"
Click Apply
Click "Add"
Browse to the location of trl.exe and select it
Click OK

Tomb Raider: Legend should now launch.

Also works for Anniversary. Haven't tested it with Underworld, but wouldn't be surprised if this works for that as well.

I'm on W10, and turning off DEP had absolutely no effect. I'm starting to think that the XP machine is my only option...

I recently played both Legend and Anniversary on a cheap laptop running Windows 10.
Note that unlike some of the older games, they do not launch directly after using the setup screen. You have to select the other "play" option.

Even when I select the "play" option, nothing launches. I left my computer for an hour, even when steam told me the game stopped the instant I chose "Play", and nothing happens. Not even a process in the task manager. Litteraly nothing happens when I press "Play".
