Camping.
WTF does this even do?
I camp.
I assign 2 lookouts.
I use incense.
I click start camp.
Nothing happens.
Nothing.
Just gives me the option to end camp and I see nothing at all change.
What am I missing? I assume it is stunningly obvious and I am just oblivious but it's totally eluding me at this point as to WTF it achieves.

What incense effects did you use?

Atm the health etc on your characters doesn't update until you leave the camping screen. Once you return to the exploration view everything will be applied though.

I used 'stamina' I think but nothing applied when I manually left. I didn't recharge any healing or combat skills. I thought maybe camping would have removed a debuff or two from disorganised or whatever other penalty I had from time spent there but no.
It will sit there forever just with music playing waiting for me to manually leave.
I am not enjoying having all these debuffs stacking up without even getting to explore much.

Pretty sure after manually leaving I got nothing. No hp. No recharges nothing. Team isn't refreshed in any way at all. Nothing.

I just did a verify to check my game wasn't corrupt in some way.

So far, unless I am in fact simply missing something obvious it appears totally broken to me. Or I am broken. Either one.

Do you mean the debuffes from time units passing? Those wont expire no.

If you didn't use the incense to restore character abilities, you won't restore abilities.

OK well as best I can tell I used incense. It subtracted the 4 points it said it required.
It's obviously just me not getting something because it just does nothing. Camping does not work.
The game has far too many penalties for my liking. Every time I move something sets me back. Not enjoying it.

Cheers.

Hmm, Is it like this all the time? Or was it just in one dungeon? If you have a save around the time I'd like to take a look:

C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Curious Panda Games\The Iron Oath\saves

Either upload to Discord or email us: curiouspandagames@gmail.com

Thanks!

The start "Begin Camping" button didn't turn into "End Camp" after you clicked it? Weird!

Restore Stamina incense just restores charges of your abilities too, no healing will be done from that incense. Also camping does not remove dungeon modifiers, you're stuck with them for that specific dungeon.

It does go to end camp. I left it a while a few times but waiting does nothing and it seems you can just cluelessly stare at it doing nothing for as long as you wish.
I ended camping manually and it still does nothing. No charges appeared to be refilled in either my healing ones or combat ones. I would have expected camping to regen hp's by default is this not the case?
The whole thing just needs 2 additions.
First - to be automated so there is no need to manually end camping since staring at the camp screen is a total waste of time. Why does it exist?
Second - to list precisely what it has done. Who got what charges or health or whatever else is recovered, consumed or lost.

I am not real interested in all the dungeon modifiers. I believe all negatives should have a counter of some sort available. This game so far seems to be a case of rushing as fast as you can to the end boss to do that with as few penalties as possible and then going back exploring. I know there are many who will disagree and that's fine but to me that order is simply backwards.

Not for me. I will try again one day when I feel like self harming. I have overrun the refund time or I think I would be using it.

I do think the current set up of dungeons favor a blitz strategy. But I much prefer that to the old old style where you didn't know where anything was and the time penalties could get very punishing if you were unlucky/got lost on some dead end.

Perhaps some happy medium where exploring off the main path moves time less? That way your not in as bad a spot for checking out random things but still have the risk of running into traps or other negative random encounters. Might make sense if the timer is Boss awareness / preparedness so going off path doesn't alert them as much.

As for camping, never had any issues with not getting health/charges, etc. Always use all your incense points, as camping itself does nothing. Be aware that those assigned to guard duty might not get full effects. As for the begin camp / end camp, I think thats just there as something to click to let the game quickly 'roll' to see if you get attacked or not.

Cheers. I haven't had the time played to even be attacked while camping so maybe it makes sense later on with more time played. That's just unlikely for me right now. Maybe later. I might have to see what lesser difficulties are like in relation to the time penalties. I prefer to explore and then work my way to the boss but so far that's just proven unfeasible.
I couldn't use ALL points. I had 5 and used 4 but there was no way to use the remainder.
It says random recharge but in all the times I reloaded and retried camping I never saw any at all. Hp should regen but maybe not on your guards but there might have been an option there to 'buy' the regen so I dunno. Whatever. Whole system just made little sense and I can't be bothered trying to figure it out right now. It seems half baked and with minor effort could be so much better. Sorry if that ticks off the fanbois but so be it. Maybe if I tried.......... nah I can't be ar$ed.
