Resting Giants: You can't open treasures while swimming, so yes, you need levitation. Bzaro as a Pektite can get it, but you can also find hover boots after one of the later battles in the current build.
Oldebzar: You need Fly or Teleport for this one. Bzaro has a few classes that can do this (Arpia, Malcubus, Tangrel), but you'll have to load him up with enough movement boots to get past the water. You also find teleport boots after one of the later battles in the current build.
Re: Flippers: Some classes, especially mages or heavily-armored types, can't swim. The Flippers allow them to do so. You can see which classes are capable of swimming in the Class Change screen.
To me, this is the hardest fight in the game, because of the insane Pektite cycle of mass damage/mass heal/mass buff. I developed a team specifically to kill them, but every time I try to reach the chest, I fail. I set Bzaro up with move 12 and a flying class (Malcubus). He refuses to fly to the island. He can't enter the water, and from the lowest ledge he won't launch for the island.
Question: could someone please confirm that if I do this map yet again, that with 16 or 20 or 10,000 movement, a flying Bzaro will reach the island with the chest?
Kill the Pektites early on with some magic. Instead of trying to reach the Chest from the mainland in a single turn, equip a set of Flippers on a flying or burrowing unit like Bzaro, or, if you've obtained one, use one of the methods of teleport-like movement to bypass the trees. If memory serves, I grabbed this one with Pektite Bzaro equipped with Riftwalkers, but other methods should work.
Pektites are easy to take out when you hit their weakness magically, and can be disabled with Mute. Anything you can't Mute, just focus down before they can recover. Don't bother going for damage if you can't one-round them, unless they're already Muted or similar. A Sleep effect can keep at least one of the human enemies on the upper level alive but incapacitated while you make your way through the water.
