- Check panel character for a unit friend/enemy, in first panel there are movement icons at bottom, one can be flippers. A character with this icon can swim and won't drown, a character without this icon will drown.
- This flippers state is given by many classes (main class selected), or there's a mist item that is flippers that you can equip to get the icon state.
- When you are in panel to change main class with the wheel of classes, when a class is selected the movement icons and movement properties are shown in bottom of top panel.
Later in the game other movements icons are:
- Boot with small wings, it's floating state, it allows float above any surface including water and lava.
- Winds, it's fly state, read it as a teleport with no height limit and the unique ability to go over some obstacles nothing else than teleport allow get through them. Honestly the game isn't always fully clear on those special obstacles types you'll need some testing to be sure.
Sorry, but you didn't read my edit, maybe? To recap: I gave Anadine flippers, and she was wearing heavy armour, and she got drowned by flip kick into water. Thus, having flippers does not necessarily stop drowning. The previous posts on the topic also gave out this incorrect information, hence my post. So far I have found 1 pair of float boots and Bzaro can float in one or two monster classes (I'm using Pektite). So if I only have Anadine in heavy armour, and give her float boots, it's fine but when I am forced to use Kyrie, who I've built with heavy armour, then that's a problem since I've built around always using Anadine as my cleave 1 shot killer. Anyway, I'll probably just assume my suggestion on how drowning works is correct (and it's basically a meta to stop people spamming heavy armour for the late game) and I'll just have to rebuild Kyrie without heavy armour.
The rules is sumarized by having the flippers icon in character panel. The unit has it then can't drown, hasn't it then will drown.
Enemies can be rather nasty with drowning, ensure check their details if a terrain has water areas. Quote that at reverse you have many opportunities to exploit it with the right skills. Check those related to teleport, flip kick, push attacks, exchange positions.
Flipper symbol = Swim
Winged Boot symbol = Walk on Water
Neither symbol = Drown
If Anadine got killed by a Flip Kick, the first thing to ask is how much damage she took.
