Whats the difference between the base game and aftermath? new maps/misions? now weapons? SOMETHING?
Or its just a more expensive version of the game with literally nothing new to the base game? And also, what is that "aftermath upgrade" dlc???

Base Game = 4 campaigns
Aftermath = Base game + 3 more campaigns

I will post a previous response of mine to a similar topic here.

1. I am not sure whether the base game published in the Steam store is the GOTY edition or not. If it is, you will get the first 4 co-op campaign episodes and the episode in Marseille. If it's not the GOTY edition, you'll have just the first 4.

2. The Aftermath edition of the game unlocks many custom melee weapons, some of which (Dual Sickles, Dual Knives, Tomahawk, Stun Baton, Sword) define the META due to their special properties. Others are just better than the standard Machete.

3. You will not have the first-person mode if you own just the base game. Even if you prefer the third-person mode, switching to the first-person mode before jumping down cancels the roll animation and saves time. It is only available to owners of the Aftermath.

4. Weapons have special modifications called "perks" in this game. Some of them require you to collect documents for a specific chapter (mission) or complete a specific chapter on Extreme difficulty. Some of those unlock conditions are tied to chapters from episodes that are not included in the base game.

For example, the Special SMG has a perk called "Make Do and Mend" in the first slot. It is the only way in the game to repair a broken Virus Sample. To unlock that perk, you need to collect 3 documents for a chapter from an Aftermath episode. Another example is the "Electro Shot" perk for the Repeating Rifle that lets you stun Special Zombies after reloading. It is locked behind a chapter from the "Valley of the Zeke" DLC which comes with neither the base game nor its Aftermath edition.

5. Some portrait frames in this game require episodes from the paid DLC. For example, the "Overman" frame requires you to complete missions from all episodes on Extreme difficulty, except the latest one in Vegas. You need the Aftermath edition of the game and the "Valley of the Zeke" DLC for that. There is a portrait frame for the Vegas episode, too.

6. Collected documents can be read in the menu. This is mostly about the game's lore, but you'll need to have all campaign episodes if you want to collect the documents on your own, without resorting to downloading third-party save files from elsewhere.
