10 GB update?
No patch notes, what’s the update about? It’s hella huge.

Mainly stuff for the new DLC.
Wow, 10 gigs? That’s a hella lot.

I mean 10 gigs for the new map series is a lot. It’s not about the past. Look at the size of THE FINALS game. It’s extremely small yet it’s one of the best looking games on the market.

Are you really using a contentless game as an example? Last time I checked MP only games literally have no content and rely on people to fight each other.

WDYM even? Live service games usually weigh a ton more than other games because they constantly add content. Anyway, my point is that 10 gigs update for a DLC is crazy — it's not the level of Shadow of the Erdtree (Elden Ring) and even then that DLC update was less than 10 gigs.

Live service games are not going to weigh anything close to a game with cut scenes and quality music. Even after all the stuff games like GTA or RDR2 has added over the years, the overwhelming majority of the install size is the original SP game.

But keep in mind that 10 gigs is not always new material causing that. Sometimes you have to update a larger file system tree because of changes or additions, so files tangent to the DLC have to be updated as well.

You really do not know how games work, yet you are trying to make it sound so profound. Anyway, not gonna continue this discussion if you are missing a point that 10 gigs for the update for the DLC is a hella lot.

They just asked what the 10gb file is, because there's no patch notes... How is that obsessing over fine size??
Adio Dec 5, 2024 @ 12:46pm
First a relocation of 60+GB and now 45GB... all in the same day, takes quite long on HDDs FFS -.-

The file size depends on the resolution/scale of the map+textures. 4K maps being WAY larger, though I do not know if these maps are 4k. Then you have to add the 3d models of the new characters + weapons and their respective textures/options. It could have been far worse.
