This Game Is A Mess. It Used To be Fun. You Made It Misery.
Saber, you've moulded a game that used to be fun into a game of misery. What a disgrace you have made of WWZ.

It's pretty obvious that Matthew Karch only has dollar signs in his eyes when it comes to the gaming industry. He doesn't care about the quality of his games, but only the money he gets from their sales. The fact that he allows this abomination of video game quality represent his company is atrocious.

The game used to be a fair bit of fun around 2019-2020. It scratched itches many of us all sought after since Left For Dead 1 & 2 never got a third instalment. The game was improving and getting better for a while and was promising, however as of late as time has passed, the game has been steadily sliding down a slope of inevitable player falloff. Not because players are tired of or don't like zombie games, but because of the way your company has handled the game's development over the past long while. You took a good thing and pissed all over it with laziness, arbitrary design, leaving issues unfixed for way too long and not listening to your community. What once was a fun and well rounded game is now misery. You made it that way. You've made me not want to play your game anymore.

Let me start with an example. The disconnections from matches and the WWZ services have been a problem for a very, very long time. Sometimes worse than others depending on how an update affected the game. Nothing more infuriating than getting randomly disconnected half way through a horde mode session because the game's networking is such a mess. Then there's the matchmaking itself. What a mess. It has to be the among the worst designed matchmaking systems I've had the displeasure of using. It's very poorly designed. I could go on about this one for a while, but you Saber, know all about these problems and simply choose to ignore them and have for some years now. You've had plenty time to rework it all and make it more intuitive and work better, but you simply do not care to do so.

I'll use the Juggernaut as another example of how this game has become misery. It brought nothing interesting to the game. The reality of things is the Juggernaut is an arbitrary attempt at creating difficulty and it was a complete failure. We're not stupid. The copypasta from the Bull is more than obvious and you did it to cut corners. We know this. It spawns unfairly way too often and soon. The spawn rate is broken - or did you arbitrarily set it up the way it is to make the players feel like the game was harder? You may call it content and difficulty, but most (if not all) players will call it uncreative worthless annoying rubbish. Then there's the fact it can somehow magically fly across platforms through the air and smash the player down. Lurkers and Creepers? Funny, but not as they can do the same thing. Neither of these issues have been addressed in over a quarter of a year as have many, many other game problems not been fixed that have existed since the game was first released. Either your company is lazy, too cheap or incompetently incapable of fixing things properly, in video games. Which is it? Is it, all three? If it was your goal to piss the players off, you've done it.

Then there's the SD (Steam Deck) issues people have been reporting saying they can't run the game or experience game crashes making the game unplayable. This was a problem in January and it's now a problem again today. I tried WWZ in Linux today to play over Proton Experimental, Proton 8.0-5 and even tried Proton 9 beta only to find out that the game stopped working properly with it on March 28th. I launched the game with those runners only a day or two prior you guys dropping the Thrill of the Kill update and the game worked. Now, it does not work with Proton at all after that update dropped. WWZ used to work fine with Proton 8.0-5 which released in January and it hasn't been updated since January 22nd. Nothing changed on my systems since I ran the game before March 28th. WWZ ran fine on Proton Experimental and Proton 8.0-5 before you updated the game.

Then I switched Steam's runner to Proton-GE 9.2. The game runs on that. So, what did you do to screw up the compatibility with Steam's version of Proton? I honestly don't know why I bother asking that. I know you won't tell me anyway. I already know there's no transparency with the community when it comes to Saber.

Then you add more dribble trickle drip feed to the game nobody asked for in the Thrill Of The Kill update. It's mediocre and minuscule forgettable content. None of it brings anything substantial to the game other than making the game an even bigger mundane grinder. Sure, they have a small impact on the game, but not in a substantially positive impacting way. People have been pleading and begging for maps from different locations around the world, different scenarios, long standing game problems to be addressed, bot improvements that actually give them some semblance of good AI instead of being useless as they are now, a better weapons levelling system, ADS for first person view and the list goes on and on so much I can't even list all the important requests. Those requests being met would bring substantial quality of life improvements to the game.

Despite all the community has pleaded for, what do you give them? The measly Thrill of the Kill update and a Valley Of The Zeke DLC with maps that are generally mediocre at best. Yeah there's some characters and weapons, but the game already had those so again - nothing too noteworthy. Not only that, but you locked that content behind a paywall because you know how desperate people are for content in this game. You're literally putting a Carrot on a string and have no shame in doing it either.

Your players are going to eventually get fed up with disgust and walk away from this game. I know many are already as things keep going from bad to worse as you keep ignoring the community. Maybe that's your plan - to get everybody in WWZ tired of the problems and hope they're desperate enough for another better zombie game - to get them focused on and onboard with Toxic Commando around summertime.

Whatever the case, there is no excuse for the sate of disrepair and neglect this game has succumbed to in the past while. The new episodes and weapons we got were great fun in Aftermath. There was substantial content in it, but the arbitrary fun destroying content, neglect and disrepair is so out of control nowadays it's made the game a lot less fun.

Anyway, I'm done. Hopefully you'll take something away from this and do something positive and constructive with it, Saber.
