The Dronemaster
Hello,

i'm still new to the game and i'm in the process of bringing my fourth class to level 30. one question has been on my mind the whole time.... how do you understand the hype around the dronemaster or what makes the class so appealing to you experienced players?

i ask myself every time i start the drone: "what good is a drone that makes 15 kills when hundreds of zombies are rolling in? "

thanks in advance for sharing your opinion + experiences.

No friendly fire with a certain trait. That's incredibly useful on mutators with the 3x friendly fire traitor mutator, or worse traitor with the more heavy weapons mutator.

The stun function on the drone stops bulls and lurkers. Hugely useful. A drone master can reasonably go off on their own with that. Or have them go first as no friendly fire and auto stun makes them a great first in the room player. If they get swarmed, everyone unloads on them and no damage do them.

Drone can also auto kill screamers. Quite useful if you're playing with less than great allies or bots.

I don't play drone master often, but I did prestige mine to level 4 and it's a choice pick on certain maps and mutators. The Marseille map in the catacombs, I always go drone master as it's a huge lifesaver in the darkness.

Is it possible to have the stun and pistol equipped at the same time?

No, they are different types of weapons. Either a loud 1911, suppressed 1911, or tazer. The tazer is pretty good and will last ages on horde mode if you don't get hit often. I mean it lasts FOREVER. I had a drone out for 2 and a half hours once for me and someone else, the other two guys on team was making bets on when it would disappear.

Edit: That being said though, I would only use it for the friendly fire. The screamers aren't that much of a problem in horde, and the autoturrets/mine skill is only useful in story/challenges.

the pro of playing drone master - it can deactivate auto turret & mines. you are immune to friendly fire, you can fly one drone to a team mate and they are also immune to friendly fire.

a drone can pick you up when you are down - although other classes have similar perks.

and yes, a drone master can basically hold his own. You can have the big BFG rifle that can easily take out the Bull & Juggernaut
