The stun function on the drone stops bulls and lurkers. Hugely useful. A drone master can reasonably go off on their own with that. Or have them go first as no friendly fire and auto stun makes them a great first in the room player. If they get swarmed, everyone unloads on them and no damage do them.
Drone can also auto kill screamers. Quite useful if you're playing with less than great allies or bots.
I don't play drone master often, but I did prestige mine to level 4 and it's a choice pick on certain maps and mutators. The Marseille map in the catacombs, I always go drone master as it's a huge lifesaver in the darkness.
Thank you :)
Edit: That being said though, I would only use it for the friendly fire. The screamers aren't that much of a problem in horde, and the autoturrets/mine skill is only useful in story/challenges.
a drone can pick you up when you are down - although other classes have similar perks.
and yes, a drone master can basically hold his own. You can have the big BFG rifle that can easily take out the Bull & Juggernaut
