Before? This game hands down. It was the best zombie shooter since FPP\TPP upgrade.
Now? Back 4 Blood (but with DLC's, bought on sale). Last patch messed the game up.

B4B:
- didn't had problems matching on first 2 difficulties in EU
- it is easy
- both are cross platform and crossplay

As for population (this is Steam pop, there's also PC Game Pass, EGS & consoles):

Have in mind World War Z just had a "big" patch released, hence bigger 24 h peak...

depends on you want to shoot swarms of zombies or a few zombies.

I would recommend this game just because B4B is full of griefers and afkers and theres no kick option.

I've spent significant amount of time playing both, WWZ more, you can check my profile for precise info. Played mostly solo so i can't speak for the community, but i can say one thing - those two games are different. Different pace, different mechanics, requires different playstyle. While B4B is more of an explore type of zombie shooter where you have to check every corner for loot, copper, weapons, attachments, food if necessary, nades, molotovs, flashbangs and other throwables, safe playstyle is recommended, building your deck (and farming/buying best cards) is mandatory to finish Nightmare/No Hope, WWZ offers fast paced gameplay and is harder overall in my experience.
Core differences in details are:
- The bots in WWZ are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who won't help you and most likely will go down fast starting from Hard without you being somewhat experienced player, same goes for Insane. Will go down fast on Extreme in most scenarios, useless in general, so playing solo on high difficulties is hard AF. B4B bots are tanky, immune to fire/acid, aimbot commons relatively good even on No Hope (highest diff in the game) as long as you have at least somewhat decent position. They can be taken over under your control and the mission won't fail even if your char is dead, unlike WWZ where the failure is guaranteed if you die playing with just bots. Can be dumb and yolo from any ledge to their death, but manageable to play with. I finished every single act on No Hope with bots, totally doable.
- The pace. Playing B4B safe as i said above will get you to the end of the mission/act. Playing WWZ you have to react quickly, think fast, make important decisions even faster. The faster you'll get to the final objective the better (with minor exceptions which i don't even remember).
- Looting in B4B is crucial for you to gain the best weapon/attach combo, while in WWZ you only need to get a good weapon, the rest is up to you, your skill and reaction, to your knowledge of what to do. B4B has the weapon rarity system, you'll get a better rarity of the same weapon a few times during your playthrough, while in WWZ, well, get some good tier 3 weapon and you good to go. B4B has economy and safe rooms between missions where you can buy additional slots for nades, for medkits/bandages, upgrade your team's HP/ammo limit/nade/medkits rarity etc.
- Builds. WWZ offers a simple perk builds which you're choosing and playing with till the end. B4B has the card system, 15 cards from the beginning and possibility to buy additional cards found on the map (additional cards are randomly chosen and stay active till the end of the act).
- Random obstacles. WWZ has pre set variety of enemies: Bull, Lurker, Gasbag, Screamer, Bomber, Booster and commons (maybe forgot something). B4B has the corruption card system which can make your playthrough a pure hell with certain combinations of cards. Armored/stronger variants of special zombies, fast/armored commons, acid/burning commons, various ground obstacles like red bushes or something which cause you to bleed if you walk through it, various debuffs like HP set to 60 but without trauma damage, lots of warped piles of copper on the map (that's the currency) which can significantly boost your economy but also slows you down and causes you to take additional damage.
To summarize i really can't pick the one or the other because they are different in so many ways. I will only say that i enjoyed playing both, B4B is just easier if you prefer to play solo.

I have both
I played wwz since it came out
I have it on Epic
They released it on steam it went on sale and I switched to steam .
B4B I bought on sale also .
Wwz hands down is better co-op game
The official discord server is still active and imo is the best way for voice chat co-op .
I would say Aliens Firestorm is better competition to this game than B4B .
Both have much better co-op
I don't hate B4b I just haven't had as much fun playing co-op as I've had playing WWZ and Aliens Firestorm

I was really disappointed with B4B. The whole game just felt off and not as refined as other games. Sometimes when special infected would hit you back you just sorted teleport across to where they've hit you, it was very odd and disorientating. I don't know if that was intentional or it was just lazy development.
I think both games are medicore but WWZ is a lot of fun for what it is.

WWZ for sure, I played B4B on gamepass, I almost bought it at release in support of the game because I really bought into the hype but man I'm glad I didn't. WWZ i first got on PS4 before I had a PC for 15 bucks at Walmart a few years back. I liked it so much I re-bought it for Steam if that's any indication for you. While the gameplay follows the same beat throughout, the changes in characters and settings every chapter keeps it feeling fresh even if the actual moment to moment gameplay is repetitive.

b4b isnt a bad game but its just really fun to me. wwz is about zombies and surviving where as b4b is about large mutants shooting.

B4B wanted to be a a successor to the highly beloved Left 4 Dead series and failed spectacularly at that. If you want that game experience, i recommend sticking to L4D 2 instead.

WWZ is alltogether different, what it does is done well, allbeit sometimes buggy. But its fun to play too. And the difficulty can be crazy in the higher settings.

people gives a lot of ♥♥♥♥ to B4B because they desperately wanted it to be the next L4D and the the devs didnt help by marketing it as so (huge mistake as it turned out) BUT that said i had ALOT of fun in B4B it's a more "realistic" and you can actually feel the "weight" of the weapons and bullets impact (even compared to L4D) , WWZ feels much more arcadey with not much effort put into weapons (which is for me a huge deal and the reason i play realistic FPSs) that said both games are good for what they are
NeoBear Jan 28, 2023 @ 8:15pm
You speed run in B4B but u cant speed run in WWZ~

get both i say~ Both are good in its own way and are actually not comparable to each other at the same time =D

B4B if you have someone to play with (bots are stupid/strange and with people you should use different weapons to not run out of ammo)
WWZ if you hav to play solo/with randoms (It's fine)

B4B if you want to unlock every starting bonus (Cards) in reasonable time (Skins take lonfer but it's cool to unlock them ingame)
WWZ if you have no problem in grinding over hundrets of hours and reset your character progress to almost zero (prestige) 5 times per character, grind weeklys and daylies, use different weapons to upgrade them to maybe unlock everything some day

B4B if you want the DLCs (new Characters and Maps)
WWZ if you don't want the DLCs (just new Weapon Skins/Variants)

B4B for first Person
WWZ for third Person

Get both if you have the money and time. I like both.
