Whats with people level 999

Been seeing loads of lvl 999 players and I highly doubt they actually got it legit, is there a way to edit your levels or something

it's not that hard to hit 999 considering how long the game has been out

A lot of people got it legit myself included. You will need approx. 270 hours to achieve lvl 999. As far as I know you can hack to get lvl 999 but you will get banned on steam so its not really worth it

they can download a savegame and be 999. Same way you can import your savegame from epic to steam.

The devs themselves released a fully maxed savefile when the game released on Steam. While there are no doubt legit 999 players, there are a lot of others as well who downloaded that file.

It is actually very easy to get to level 999./ I have been playing maybe a few weeks and am up to level 426./ It is especially easy if you play horde mode cause you can advance close to 10 levels after just one game./

most of the time you will see if someone got the 999 by himself or not :D

but you can level much faster now than at release on epic.

the fact you can copy some file and make it your own is the worst the devs did. feels like a cheat to me.

I see alot of lv999 players play like a fricking idiot, like I have to do everything myself while those idiot keep getting themself incap by zombie. They don't play like a veteran but move and act like it their first time playing.

You have those that copied someone's save file & those that genuinely grinded out until lvl. 999.
The only benefit from copying a save file is to avoid grinding. But those usually lack experience on certain levels and classes.

Most people, legit or not are pretty bad at the game. At least in my experience. I grinded on the epic version of the game, because the game wasnt on steam, did it during the pandemic when I was unemployed for 6 months, and did it offline. Then I ported my savegame over. Honestly, if I didnt become unemployed for 6 months, I would have probably gotten to level 200 or so, then I would have copied a file, the grinding itself taught me absolutely nothing. I just kept reaching a spot on the first french map, and dying on purpose. It's just not very useful to grind.

The documents are another story, those were actually really fun and challenging to get.

if you grind with a lame die-on-purpose-tactic instead of just playing the maps to learn them, it is your own fault. i played every map and mutator and i am nearly level 800 now - it tought me very much how to play the game, different classes and weapons.

There isnt that very much to learn in this game to be honest. Only difficulty that gives me trouble is the hardest one. And I'm assuming thats because i dont have 3 friends to play with, only one.

The mutators yeah, those can make the game a lot harder and require extra creativity and skill, I did grind all the documents, that was admittedly a fun thing to do.

I only got to level 773 and stopped playing for a good while, tried playing again and I suck now

I'm sure most of them are cheaters. You can’t raise lvl 999 and not bother with teammates, tactics, etc. They don't know simple rules - if your teammate is dead = you are dead, if you ran away = you failed your team. This is a team game, but they are lvl 999 and have no idea about the basics. If they raised it legitimately from level 1, they would know simple things and hold on to the team, it would be like a reflex of a person who has played many hours without powerful perks. And they would know that they win with the whole team and also lose with the whole team, and not just one a player who then writes "you lost, it's not my fault" that literally means "I left you alone behind without help doing my own business, and still it's your fault that you and me dead. Suddenly."
I have seen some level 999 people who know how to play this game and who are good at shooting and working as a team. But most of them ruined the games for me when they connected, honestly the bots are much more useful than most of these players.
I'm glad when ppl with 400+ or 800lvl connects to me,this means that we will complete the mission quickly and efficiently.
But when a person 999lvl comes in, this is most often a restart.
