How do documents work

I'm a tad confused about the whole document system, does the perk only activate when you get all 9 documents? does the perk slowly increase in percentage chance for each document you collect? I'm not really 100% on it

Yeah you need to get all 9 for each map to unlock the perk for that map. Plus i think if lets say all 4 players in the lobby have unlocked the perk from the documents for the given map those perk percentages are stacking.

Do this perks only works in challenge modes, like daily and weekly challenges or in normal coop missions too?

its a lot of grind and odds that more then 2 mates have the required documents for the bonus is very low. so it will be 5% or max 10% chance that the bonus will occur in the Chapter you play. not worth the grind for me personally.

The documents are there to aid in the extreme difficulties. For newcomers, this puts them in a really good position as the extra credits from attempts/completions combined with getting documents allows them to prestige and tackle extreme with a better chance of success.

If anybody played Extreme when it was first out, it was an absolute nightmare to complete for the sniper rifle. No prestige, no special weapons, some pretty rough perks (Gunslinger). Document hunting however is a chore if you're alone. You are better off doing this with friends as it helps deal with the stress of egg hunting.

I would not be surprised if Saber is going to consider increasing the difficulty once more with more specials, or specials unique to an episode. Imagine having a special that continuously makes loud sounds to attract other nearby zekes while chasing down a player.

idk Extreme was never difficult if you play with experienced mates. For randoms/casuals, ye it was impossible.

Extreme was just never difficult in the sense that you needed map specific bonuses, so documents are only really there to add a little variety.

Except now it’s pointless for me to play Extreme mode now I can get more challenge coins in Daily Challenges

They should have put the documents within normal co-op maps not as separate challenge maps.

Now they have split the playerbase as people are doing all these daily challenges all the time.

Most likely left it there as it helps double up for players that want challenge credits to get skins or weapons on top of extra credits for prestige.

I'm a full time document hunter at the moment and dont quite understand how it works as well. Does it have a chance to NOT spawn at all?

I think it always spawns, and I've seen multiple docs in one level (though you can still only pick 1 up). The locations are really evil. On Marseille 1 I saw it in a half open pizza box XD

It's always spawns, but it has really rough places where it hides.

Japan 3 has 2 of them hiding near the end (1 under a cash register), the other on top of a box before going through the gate. You need to comb every area.

When you go to the challenges menu, there is a section for documents and you can check each one out. The bonus varies per chapter. It is misleading in which if you get a document you will get the bonus, but it won't really have a chance of activating until you get all 9 documents per chapter.

This is great for new players, but for old/returning players, it's another level of grind.

For the documents to count towards progress do you have to complete the level you picked it up in? Or can you just take some you find on a level and exit to menu?

Documents collected on a specific map only count towards that maps progress
