When playing SIngle Player the A.I is absolutely trash. They cannot heal others or themselves, they will stand still and get swarmed by zombies, they will not pick up or place defences such as barbed wire or turrets. Offline single player in this game is bad.
Co Op is much more fun as you will have to work with your team mates to overcome HORDE points and share resources ( especially on higher difficulties ).
Guns feel a bit weak ( especially the sound design ) but you can upgrade them later to deal more damage. Sadly progression in this game is linear and quite frankly boring ( yes you can choose which skill to buy but nine out of ten times it will be damage increase or some other passive stuff ) Gun progression is similar, even though you have silencers and attachments they don't do much. Its all about the damage.
Level design sometimes feel too short and other times a bit too long. Add to that the fact the most levels are linear and have predictable "Stand and defend" points it quickly becomes repetitive.
You can even buy with real money some extra dlc weapons that will COMPLETELY destroy any other weapon in the game. Like you don't need to use anything else because the DLC weapons are maxed out. Although GOTY edition has all the packages ?
The game can be fun but only if you have friends with you. Otherwise I would give it a pass or at least buy on hard sale.
Depending on the price there is a lot of content here.
The game is still active today and your average queue (at least when I play is around 1 minute to find a team) for quick match.
So again - can be played completely solo for the campaigns and horde mode?
You can play all the Campaign Maps Solo as well as Horde. I think you dont even need an Internet connection in order to play - but without that you wont get any Class/Weapon XP while playing Solo.
With aftermath they said it would have 23 pve maps and 7 chapters too boot so it seems they finally gave us more content.
P.S. Of all the zombie or horde shooters being released this month, in my opinion WWZ:A is the better one. B4B was hot garbage, aliens seems to be having net work issues, the machine intelligence is terrible and has little content.
I’ve read the weapons feel underpowered or lack oomph in WWZ. Can you elaborate? Is it that bad/noticeable?
For me weapons felt fine when I played, snipers had umph when you hit zombies, heavy weapons also hit hard. The lighter weapons and silenced weapons were on the softer side, melee was the only thing that was a little lack luster but hopefully they fix that with the revamped melee system.
I definitely think it going to EGS had a lot of hate around it. It's one of the few games that weren't timed exclusive. I assume that didn't do much for them seeing as how they want to be on Steam now.
