Is this the same as the original?
I did a bit of Googling, YouTubing, and review browsing but I'm still a bit confused. I passed on the original (yeah, anti-Epic, but I didn't angry I just moved on) and only today found out about Aftermath. Is this the same game but updated with a bit of extra content and QoL stuff? What are the differences, would I be missing out on anything by getting this and not the first?

Also, I'd probably be playing solo more often than not and from what I've been able figure it seems like it's very similar to playing L4D solo, is this accurate? I pretty much stopped playing that because I got frustrated by terrible bot AI. I'm seeing mixed reports, some are saying they're manageable, while others are saying completely brain-dead and unhelpful. So am wondering how this compares, since that's one of the deciding factors in whether or not I wait another year or 2 for it to go on sale for $10.

Thanks in advance.

It's WWZ GOTY + 6 maps + FPS view.

It's not a solo game, bots are available, but not very helpful.
So co-op is highly recommend, though you can play solo on easy or normal difficulty levels only. Or alone on Extreme. :D

To be correct Aftermath gives you only:

1) 2 Chapters with 6 maps
Chapter 6 Rome - 3 maps
Chapter 7 Kamchatka - 3 maps

2) Exclusive to Aftermath, First Person Perspective view. In my opinion 3rd person is better as of now, maybe Devs will improve it.

The new chapters are comparable with size and quality of France DLC (Marselli?) which cost ifself alone $15.

You get a free update for WWZ GOTY which includes (I checked it myself):
- new Vanguard class;
- new special zombe - Rats,
- 2 completely new full auto firearm weapons, LMG and Special SMG
- new melee weapons and system
- new unlockable weapon variants for old weapons for blue coins.

I know that Aftermath has a first-person option available. The original game doesn't have that.

The game plays solo just fine. I play solo a lot.

It does and I play solo a lot as well. However, if you go over the 3rd of 5 difficulties the bots aren't super effective. You can definitely play solo and have a blast doing it, BUT if someone is really into playing every game on the hardest level, I think you have to do that with people.

I always play offline when I'm leveling a character, it is extremely fun, even offline.
Thanks folks! Cool, so it basically is the same game released 2 years ago with some extra maps & features. I'm not so hardcore that I'd need bots to get me through the hardest difficulties, and am perfectly happy coasting through my games on "normal." I've wishlisted, but I think will wait for a price drop.

Yeah, I'm in the same position as you where I had and played the hell out of the original. I DID buy this at release and I'm not regretting it. I'm still having fun running the new maps on repeat to level (weapons and prestige levels)

2 things I'm really looking forward to that were't mentioned (I don't think)
- New Horde map to come
- New mechanic being asses with the new Horde maps that allows MORE zombies on screen than is currently possible.

The change allowing more zombies on screen has me really excited, because the feature of this game that separates it from L4D and B4B is the massive throngs of zombies on screen at once. The fact that it is going to be MORE is really exciting to me.
