I've done 3 horde missions, game always crashes after 10-12 waves. It's a waste of time this game mode.
The funny thing is that the game "crashes", i get a report window to send report or not, but the game is running fine in the background, but i can't do anything, i can see my character getting killed by zeds. If i close the report window or send a report, game closes...
Crashes always occur when the game stutters for a bit longer than usual. Game usually "stops" my character from moving forward when a stutter occurs, which is another annoying issue with this game on PC w/ mouse & keyboard (does not happen on controller).
Whenever your game crashes during gameplay, is the game still running just fine in the background for you, like you can see zombies killing you and other players moving around? I'm asking this because whenever i crash, i get a longer than usual stutter, game resumes, but i can't do anything, then 2-3 seconds later i get a crash report box while game is still running in the background. Which to me, is the weirdest thing ever. I'm fairly certain the game does not crash, the crash report is the thing that is actually crashing the game for me. If the game is running perfectly fine in the background and only shuts down when i close the report, it should be more than obvious... I just don't know if other people have the same crash experience as me.

The game freezes randomly, like a stutter and then crash report pops up which actually crashes the game.
The only difference console players get is that the game freezes and they do not get a pop up window error, because the devs have to remove that stuff for consoles. When a game crashes on playstation, the OS closes the app and gives an error window that looks the same for all games, but different error codes.
I saw a gif a few days ago of a guy recording his TV and hand with a ps5 controller in hand, he was showing the game in the background and moving the thumbstick and no response from the game.
This leads me to believe the crashing to be related to that pop up error box, on console, it does not show up because it should not exist or is invisible. But the code is still there, you just don't see it when the issue comes up on console.
Devs aren't really that competent from the looks of it when it comes to fixing game breaking issues, there was an issue with save progress being lost in epic games or something, the "final fix" for this issue is the devs allowing people to share save files and from what i have read online, the devs automatically leaked a save file with everything unlocked, essentially the "999" characters you see around are based on this issue. Since modifying your save is allowed by the devs.
Hey i've just had another crash on pc while playing with mouse and keyboard. I figured a way to "cheat" around the crash report window and avoid closing the game. It involves using a controller. When the game "freezes" and you can't move anymore but the game is still running, if you have a xbox one controller for example, plugged in, you can resume playing the game with the controller. Keyboard and mouse will not work anymore untill you restart the game. This lets you finish the mission you are doing, as long as you have a controller at hand. I managed to finish a wave and loose on the next one doing this.
I don't know if a second crash report can be triggered by playing with the controller for long enough, did not test that out. I just got a crash report during a hard horde run, tried the controller and it worked. Game goes back to working as normal, just limited to controller instead.
Controller is a downgrade, but you do not get the bug that has never been fixed on PC, where you character stops moving forward whenever the game has a stutter. This cancels movement when it happens and cancels any action you are doing that requires to hold "E" for a couple of seconds, which is everything, pretty much. This bug is not present when playing with controllers.
Which again, is an indication of the incompetence of the dev team behind this game, this bug is present since launch day for this game. Just like many other issues.
