Turn Off Real PC file info for streaming
Is there a way to safely stream this without the game using your computer name/files? My issues as a streamer is I would love to twitch this, but I dont need my viewers knowing my real name. I wish games would have this information available so I dont need to test play stuff and can do blind gaming, but many streamers stream under a pseudo name for privacy reasons. Thoughts? Maybe a stream friendly settings update?

This line of code tells the game if you are using one of the following programs listed in the code (common streaming apps and recorders), it will not announce your name and instead open up an exclusive scene. If you are still concerned about it announcing your name, do one of the following:
1. Change your User File Name
2. Tab out when you get to the part where Monika says "I'm talking to you, [player]."
3. I can try to modify this part of the game for you by tampering with the code.

Edit: Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I just realized this was made 5 days ago.

you can use a virtual machine or run the software on a sandbox

and there are probably other answers too but these are the answers i can think of

if you are a streamer i am sure you have a computer decent enough to use a virtual machine

Should be able to just change your windows name. If it's a PC you use for steaming purposes, a professional name might be appropriate to keep on it permanently.

yes I know about VM, but to set that up for 1 game to stream seems over the top and wasn't sure if there were other options, other people having similar issues, a way to change it in the game, etc.

well you know you don't even need to set it, you can just use the game on a live lubuntu vm

would take like 10 minutes which is just installation of the lubuntu

The game doesn't show your pc name already when you are using a recognized streaming software, instead it is replaced with monika's jumpscare

This is correct. I suspect Dan planned ahead for this and figured streamers might want this kept confidential for some reason. Unfortunately Nicole, since you already knew too much before learning this there really isn't a reason for you to stream the game. DDLC is a reactionary game and if you're not going into it blind why would anyone want to watch you play it? If you were just looking into the game before getting a friend to play, not aware of what they were getting into, THEN it's entertaining. If it's just you already knowing the ending and plot of the story then what's the point?

thanks all for the feedback. I appreciate the comments around no reason to stream however I disagree. It has multiple endings that I haven't seen yet and I play these types of games as a way to interact with my viewers. I make polls for them to vote on options and so even though I played it the viewers perhaps haven't and its an experience for THEM which is the whole reason I stream in the first place.

Fair enough, but as a viewer I don't see the point. The "chat" isn't the focus of a reactionary game like DDLC since they are just floating text. There are only 2 endings, neither of which are any different until you reach the very end of the game, and 1 "hidden" ending where you delete someone before starting a new game. If you delete Monika before you begin a new game you will see a scene with Sayori, but if you delete anyone else you skip this and go straight to the "end" screen.

If you're looking for suggestions for games that could relate to the material in DDLC you can find some in the linked topic below.

If you're looking for a game that might inspire group participation this is an excellent puzzle game with a familiar yet quite different theme to DDLC.
