Any plans for a Sequal or a game similar?

DDLC is a good game; but i find it odd that the developers released this game; and thats it. is there any plans for possibly a sequel with a different cast; or maybe a game similar to it?

I highly doubt they will make another one but if they do then I would be really happy.

This comes up frequently. According to the devs, they have plans for another project (not a sequel). However, those plans have been halted by irl issues (the pandemic, as of late, but others beforehand). You can search the forum for more info on the subject.

Salvato is working on a separate visual novel to DDLC. That's what the easter eggs in the games files are in reference to, but this visual novel has zero relation to DDLC or its characters, don't believe anyone that tells you otherwise.

And last year he announced that in addition to that, he would be working on some new content for DDLC. Not a sequel, but more like an expansion.

Don't do this. Game Theory is horribly unreliable for things of this nature, especially for DDLC. The amount of misinformation that series has spread regarding this game is ridiculous.

Game Theory does what it can with the information they have. At the moment you can neither prove nor disprove them with your own theories. The channel’s fully admitted to where they were wrong with the FNAF series as each title left theorists and deep-divers with more questions than answers, only to be proven or disproven with the next installment. DDLC is no different in this regard as it left a lot of breadcrumbs either eluding to DDLC, another story entirely or just stuff added for a creepy factor. We can’t know, thus cannot claim if someone else is wrong.

Not true. Salvato stated that at the time of DDLC's release, there were no plans for more content for DDLC or its characters. That makes it impossible for the easter eggs to be related, unless he straight up lied. This information was available at the time of the Game Theory, and theories like this create a lot of expectation that was never the intent to live up to. I'll defend MatPat on a lot, but this isn't one of those cases. That video was irresponsible for an influencer with such a high following to make and probably caused Salvato some trouble.

There used to be a pinned PSA that a Salvato appointed mod would keep directing people to to deter them from this idea, but it looks like it was taken down recently.

I don’t remember Salvato making any statements like this, though if it was at the time of release I wouldn’t have picked up on it. However, if this was publicly known as early as release I figure this wouldn’t be the first I’ve heard of it. It also doesn’t factor in Monikas hidden message, among the other hidden content, that was always there to be discovered. If any of these “other worlds” she mentions link in any way to DDLC that alone would be expanded content.

To my knowledge the ONLY thing added AFTER release was the alternate-alternate ending (if you delete Monika or any other Doki on a new game), but I could be wrong on this because it might only be a rumor I’d heard. Point being, unless there’s anything to back what you say up I can only assume it’s another rumor because what information I do have in front of me ATM says otherwise.

Regardless, Salvato did say he’s working on more DDLC content (whether or not it was initially planned) and I don’t mind waiting.

Good to know Dan changed his mind on that, though I still stand by my statement that if in Monikas hidden letter these “other worlds” elude to DDLCs story that’s still expanded content. Anything that adds to the lore of why DDLC happened from the source is welcome to me.

I’m not a fan of VNs, but I’d already made up my mind to play anything released by Team Salvato. I’ve known about the secondary VN not being related to DDLC for a while, but I’m still interested in seeing what they do with it.

A personal theory of mine that in no way was intended by Monikas hidden letter, yet is viable from a story-standpoint, is that these “other worlds” Monika refers to are Mods. They are player made, thus it’s as if the player is “helping” this “Outer Monika” in “saving them”. True, this can’t be said for all mods as some turn the game into hentai, parody or deviate too much from the story by making the characters into something they aren’t or adding their own OCs into the mix, but it’s still fits in line with the content of DDLC and Monikas hidden letter.
