You start the game off in Monikas space room where she is not happy about the game being reinstalled and tries to delete it herself only to find she lacks the powers she once had. She identifies this as a modification to the game and reluctantly agrees to help you "save" someone and achieve the ending you couldn't get before. As you progress beyond the Festival you'll be given choices that matter, effecting whether you get a good ending or a bad ending with whomever you choose to help for that fated Sunday.
Not really a spoiler as the main site is pretty much telling you this, but just in case...
While you may choose between Sayori, Natsuki and Yuri the fourth route, Monikas choice, will only appear once you've proven "Happiness can be found here." and you'll get to see one of the emotionally strongest endings I've seen in any other telling of the story.
