Similar game to DDLC WITHOUT horror
Do any of you guys know games like this but without the horror aspect?

To be precise I'm looking for a game where you can romance with different girls like in this one...without killing themselves. And it should be in a manga/anime style ...like this one.
aNDdd (sorry) have a longer playtime.

Thanks!

DDLC, can be considered, for some, a parody. It takes the genre of romance visual novels, gives it flat characters, and suddenly turn on the switch of terror in a effective and well-executed way which is the game's main selling point.

But, the thing is, many people never actually played a VN that DDLC is supposed to be referencing. Which is funny, because if people are able to really enjoy a character like, let's say, Sayori, then they would go crazy over characters which are actually designed to make you fall in love with.

Here are some VN's that offer an experience of what DDLC would be if the horror never were there.

"Fly, as if your heart had wings" -Ageha.

In If My Heart Had wings, you take control of Aoi Minase, a cyclist who got injured in a competition gravely and is no longer able to use a bike without risks again. He then returns to his home town in search of a new passion. There he meets Kotori, a girl on a wheelchair that lost her ability to walk, which shares a past that resembles his.

At some point, he discovers a club with only one female member, the Soaring club. The only person in that club is Amane, a girl who used to work together with her best friend to build a glider with the objective of flying over a rare event called the Morning Glory Cloud[en.wikipedia.org]. However, for an unknown reason, her friend simply disappeared, and now she is alone trying to accomplish her dream.

Aoi enters the club to help her, and promises to Kotori- who is getting excited with the idea of flying- that he would take her off her wheelchair and bring her to the skies, flying over that rare cloud while at the same time helping Amane accomplish her and her lost friend's dream.

This visual novel is on the very top of the thread for two reasons: Firstly, it's one of the best ones i have ever laid my eyes on. The characters are extremely lovable, the writing is excellent, each of the character's routes get extremely developed, and overall it's a very enjoyable VN.

The second reason is that there are characters which resemble characters of present in DDLC. That's not really a surprise as DDLC's characters are mainly focused on stereotypes and tropes, but IMHHW uses those tropes as a base for the characters, and not the main final result.

For example, you have a childhood friend, you have a very shy girl, you have a tsundere (Two, in fact, but one is more like it's own thing ) and so on.

Another upside of this VN is that it's quite long. It will take a while until you get all character routes completed, which is a major upside if you're the kind that gets really attached to the characters.

Overall, if you ever wondered what a romance VN would actually feel like, give IMHHW a try.

This VN handles much more differently than the previously mentioned one.

On this VN, you take control of a person with the name of your choosing.

In a nutshell: You are a chinese stundent, and you are about to take the Gaokao test; one of the most difficult tests in history which makes people study three whole month before at best and end their own lives at worst. You have 100 days to study and manage your time correctly to get the best score on that test, and conquer your future.

However, there's a problem. You just got a girlfriend. Yes, unlike DDLC and IMHHW: You begin the VN with a girlfriend on your side. To put it simply: you confessed to a girl, mostly with little hope, and ends up she actually loves you back, and now you two are together. She's sweet, she's caring, and it won't take long till you become attached to her.

But there's the problem. You just begun a relationship of your dreams, but at the same time, you have to study for the Gaokao test. If you cuddle too much with your girlfriend, you will have an excellent relationship, but that would ruin your future as you would have studied little to nothing when the test finally comes.

And if you dedicate all your time to studying, she will think you don't actually like her. That you are avoiding her, and that you are forcing yourself to continue, which would eventually making her to stop dating you because she thinks you never really loved her. That would make her life extremely sad.

And the game continues like that. You have to actually manage your time. Interact with your adorable girlfriend, study hard, and more importantly, NEVER waste time. 100 days might seem like a lot. It really inst.

So yeah. This game is a fun and challenging experience that somehow manages to be a equally good romance story.

Last but not least, Dal Segno, the VN i am currently playing.

A romance VN with a happiness theme centers around our nameless main character which is tranferred to school in an insland known as the Paradise, a place with the intention of being a island where no one is unhappy.

And it takes it's title seriously; we are talking about a place where there's a girl A.I. that can see a "happiness" number made by a very complex equation taking in consideration brain chemicals, and has the role of keeping everyone happy.

Except that our protagonist, for some reason, also ends up having the ability of seeing those numbers. That story unfolds from there as he meets new people and might or might not use that ability to his advantage.

This VN can be quite expensive, but you certainly get what you pay for.

Here's one I haven't played but I've heard, more than once, that it's like the best & it was made by a company that made all of the other VNs I've ever been interested enough to check out except DDLC. It's expensive but it has a crazy amount of content. http://store.steampowered.com/app/324160/CLANNAD/
