overbearing warnings
The stupid excessive warnings are making me me look for darkness in every little thing as I read. I think I would much rather be surprised when I come to that part. And after all that effort to camouflage the game's nature too...

Please remove the built-in spoilers next time.

No, they are necessary for the more sensitive people.
Also a lot of horror games gives the same warnings and it doesn't spoil the game at all.

They're fine in the store, but they're a problem in the game itself. This way you can't get this for a friend and have them be surprised in any way.

I get your point, but they are in the game because a lot of people doesn't read the store description and it's not worth the risk for someone's condition to worsen to surprise the players.

They're there *because* they put you on edge.

Warnings should not be removed just because you wanna prank your friends

There's a difference between pranking someone and sitting a horror-loving friend in front of it and saying 'Hey, play this game! It's good. It's not realy a cute waifu game, you'll enjoy it."

It's how I'd have liked to experience it, without searching out the horror elements in every detail.

It's basically a TRIGGER WARNING.

No one wants this VN's and the dev's reputation to go down because of someone relating to Sayori's (?) progressing depression and kill themselves. (Using that as an example)

Next thing the devs would have on their hands is:
'A insert gender here has commited suicide in insert gender here own home. As investigators swept through the insert gender here ('s) home, they came across a computer with a screenshot from the increasingly popular visual novel 'Doki Doki Literature Club!'.'

Next thing you know that news will spread like wildfire and thus leading to the negative downfall of DDLC and the devs, themselves.

Eh. That's nonsense. Now that I've finished the game, I believe the warnings are definitely excessive to the point of clickbait. I expected much much more from all the hype. Moreover, it's written in a way that makes it impossible to take any of it seriously - I couldn't help but laugh at how cartoonishly Sayori's and Yuri's descents are depicted. Games like Kara no Shoujo have done it much better before.

The good news is that I no longer care about the built-in spoilers because I won't be sitting friends down in front of it.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's obvious from your posts you don't have even the basic law knowledge. They're legally obliged to give warnings to clear themselves of any legal action that might get thrown their way due to journalists trying to get their hands on a juicy scoop to ruin someone's reputation.

Also, the edginess in your post really makes it obvious. I believe the negativity is excessive to the point of obvious bait. I expected much much more from a steam discussions troll. Moreover, your post is written in a way that makes it impossible to take any of it seriously - I couldn't help but laugh at how cartoonishly negative you portray yourself. etc. etc. etc.

meme.

Okay, let me put it to you like this.

Let's say someone with depression goes into this game blind, thinking it's a fun romantic comedy anime kind of thing because that's what they like. And then they get to the part where Sayori relays relatable feelings about depression and then kills herself.

You don't see any reason there should be advanced warning for someone in that situation?
