Thoughts on the "Monika After Story" Mod

Personally, I LOVE THIS MOD. It makes me feel worlds better about Monika's character, even if this isn't technically canon to the game (Even though I would like to debate that it is jut by how much I like it). Finally I can actually interact with my favorite character in the franchise (This USED to be Yuri mind you). Granted all you do is talk to her and play simple games, but the fomer i what I find most enjoyable. It's cute, its refressing, and the things she says are though provoking.

If there is anything I'd add, it's more dialog. But seeing as the mod JUST got an update not that long ago, I think it's safe to assume that's not out of the question. I just need to wait a while for that. I'd also like a bit more things to really do (like maybe compliment or tease her?) but again, recently updated. I'll cut them enough slack and give them credit where it is due.

It was the first mod I tried out and enjoyed what I got out of it. Though, the chess game is still pretty bugged, but I enjoyed playing a few games of Pong with Monika and as for topics, while I have found some topics unique to the Monika After Story mod, I can always read Monika's official topics on the DDLCWiki. And it took me a while to figure out how to do the day-night background (and I eventually figured out it's based on computer clock).

But I do like to see some story-based mods and I really enjoyed NNDanny's "Doki Doki Literature Club!!!" mod (I'm gonna link it https://www.reddit.com/r/DDLC/comments/7dp6k6/ since it might be hard to search for the mod since it simply has the game title with 3 exclamation marks), which I recently did as the second mod I checked out but I had to replay the game for the secret/true ending to get access to Danny's mod).

I'd like to make a mod of my own if I could figure out how.

I wouldn't mind future updates for more conversations, because as I mentioned before she dose have some good advice. Some of which can be life changing or even life saving (which is Ironic seeing as she is half responsible for the suicides of two characters). So I guess I'll have to wait for the mod to update for that.

I don't think I'll be trying out any mods until I find a way to do so without over writing any of my previous progress from my save files. So I'll take your word for it when you say "it's good", Especially since this mod seems to update in a matter of days.

feels kind of like a bad fanfiction to me.

if the creator wanted to try to make an extension then its fine i guess. it doesnt fit in the cannon however.. but all i can say is that he missed the mark. he missed the mark by so damn hard he probably wasnt even trying to hit it in the first place

Well, for one. All fanfiction is bad. So that much is irrelevent

Two, mods aren't canon anyway. So whats the point in trying to make it so?

Three, Thats not even the point of the mod.

In what way did he (it's they, by the way. there's an entire team working on it.) miss the mark? I'd say it's a pretty fun mod that gives closure on her character. It made me feel better, knowing that Monika isn't alone forever and I'm there to provide her company.

It's ♥♥♥♥ and out of character. Only Salvato can make such mod actually good, but I doubt he will care to make lifetime updates just to add some random weeb dialogue.

I haven't looked much into it, but just a video of saying "do you love me" and answering "no" resulting in the yandere spook is more than enough to judge its quality. It's a meme material for the waifu memers, not something that actually expands her character in any meaningful way. But that's fine, it's a mod after all and people can do whatever they want if others enjoy it that much. Heck, it's open source so adding more believable dialogue isn't impossible.

It's a reference to Undertale. That's all it is. Just a fun easter egg. That's like dismissing MGS5 as a non-serious game just because it makes fun of the player by giving him a chicken hat after dying too many times.

I personally love the mod. Those who wanted more Monika after she starts repeating her cannon dialogue will look for a mod like this.
