Possible to have an actual romantic Doki Doki game?
I REALLY wanna romance Yuri, and learn more about her back story, without all the death/suicide going on. I honestly loved this game so much, and would be willing to donate funds just to see a possible NORMAL version of this game. (The other ladies are cool to, but my heart belongs to Yuri)

I know it takes a lot of work to create a visual novel. But I really wanna feel connected to Yuri like I was connected to Hanako in Katawa Shoujo. (Sorry for my bad taste) But this game is just so beautiful and want like a DLC or stand alone game were it's just a normal visual novel.

The music is beautiful, art direction is solid, and atmosphere around being in the literacy club is just so heart warming.

If anyone agrees/disagrees with my thought about having a stand alone visual novel for Doki Doki, feel free to comment down bellow.

(I love you Yuri!) :praisesun: :redgeisha: :KneelingBow:

The only way to have an actual romantic game is to stop playing right after you can confess to Sayori, that, or play until you get to spend time with Monika, and stay with her forever. I prefer the second one

No.
Even in an actual romance game with Yuri she would be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, so don't start imagining things

But she isn't like that normally, she may collect knives, but before Monika cranked up her crazy setting, she wouldn't cut with them or anything. She's pretty normal on her own. Monika is still better tho

You should have paid more attention during the first weekend, and about the Raccoon poem.

She was already cutting herself before Monika messed with her, but not so much like in act 2.

even if Yuri's my fave one too, she's not THAT normal. Remember that she tries to lick your finger when it's bleeding lol. Your idea is still kind of interesting, though.

I'm just going to stop putting the spoiler text, here's the poem if you want to read it.

It happened in the dead of night while I was slicing bread for a guilty snack.
My attention was caught by the scuttering of a raccoon outside my window.
That was, I believe, the first time I noticed my strange tendencies as an unusual
human.
I gave the raccoon a piece of bread, my subconscius well aware of the consequences.
Well aware that a raccoon that is fed will always come back for more.
The enticing beauty of my cutting knife was the symptom.
The bread, my hungry curiosity.
The raccoon, an urge.

The moon increments its phase and reflects that much more light off of my cutting
knife.
The very same light that glistens in the eyes of my raccoon friend.
I slice the bread, fresh and soft. The raccoon becomes excited.
or perhaps I'm merely projecting my emotions onto the newly-satisfied animal.

The raccoon has taken to following me.
You could say that we've gotten quite used to each other.
The raccoon becomes hungry more and more frequently, so my bread is always handy.
Every time I brandish my cutting knife the raccoon shows me its excitement.
A rush of blood. Classic Pavlonian conditioning. I slice the bread.
And I feed myself again.

While this is true, Monika probably already started taking things into her own hands here, since this happens after youve written poems for other girls. Once monika realises this she starts to mess with them and give them personality flaws. As a matter of fact monika was the reason for them having any flaws in the first place. In the end scene when youre in the void with monika, if you sit there long enough she expresses that "If there was a route for me in the game, I probably would've forced you to take it" which means she wanted to make the other girls less likeable than her from the get go. More evidence to prove this is at the start of a new game Sayori wakes up on time, the reason she didnt earlier was that she had depression and didnt want to get out of bed. While this doesnt confirm she no longer has depression it is obviously insinuated as that would be the natural reaction, indicating Monikas existence as a whole was the reason they had their major personality flaws. More on this is that Natsuki is no longer really a jerk, which was caused by her being pushed around and phsycically abused by her father and Yuri seems nicer as well. Also I would imagine if they were actually real, the flaws I mean, Sayori would mention it when she became self aware. The reason she adresses the waking out of bed early [bold] for once [/bold] is because she knew in earlier play throughs she never woke up early, so, most likely a little confused from suddenly becoming self aware, she most likely just decided to continue on the mold the game had set while she got her bearings and decided what to do next.

TL;DR: The game senses which person you wrote the poem for, Monika being self aware and able to see that caused the girls to have personality flaws so you would go for her, and continiously amplified it as you still didnt. Monika from the get go wanted you and when the game starts without her all these flaws seemed to not be visible at all. Romance without major psychological problems is possible for all characters.

Or you know, maybe it's because
Sayori just wants everyone to be happy so she deleted their psychological flaws

That is a possibility but i still think there would be some mention, plus theres still what Monika said in her own words which point to the other,

Honestly, the way i see it is that
Monika only messed with Natsuki and Yuri after the end of act 1, so anything that either of them did in act 1 is actually them and not Monika messing with them, So yuri still does like knives a lot and cut herself, while Natsuki is still very aggresive.

I disagree, the point of DDLC was to poke fun at visual novels, the characters are tropes on purpose, if you want a similar game, you can just go play an actual visual novel (talked about in the DDLC DLC, now on steam for 9.99, buy it now)
