I mean, things like that can mostly just happen you know, especially when your closest friend is an absolute ♥♥♥♥ to you.
The end of the game completely explains why she was depressed.
It doesn't actually say why. All it says is that Monika exacerbated her depression.
That being said, depression doesn't always need a reason. Sometimes it's as simple as an imbalance of chemicals in the brain. I actually guessed what was going on with her because it was almost like reading my own thoughts. Trying to put on a brave face and smile for everyone like nothing is wrong. Doing your best to make everyone else happy because you don't feel like you deserve it, but their happiness is the only thing that slightly makes the rain clouds go away. The reason for her depression could be anything at all. We probably won't know. All we know Is it's there and gets played with.

I have depression and whenever I don't take my antidepressants for a couple of days, I start to feel how Sayori does.
So if she gets her antidepressants from virtual CVS but the dose is held constant when the depression is amplified, I can see that happening because I have past experiences with depression and incorect doses and such.
Kinda blundered her way through getting you all to yourself, rather than trying to erase all the other girls intentionally.
