2nd game soon???

i know this is quite early on but is there any news or rumours of a sequel or a second game on the way?

Continuation with the same characters? Most likely not.
Continuation in the same school with the same literature club, this game being a "rumor" in the new game? Might be possible, however nothing is confirmed (but then again I'm not "up to date" with the news on this game either).

The developer said in an AMA on reddit that he works on another Visual Novel, that will have more of a traditional story and none of the gimmick DDLC had. So I assume it will be its own thing and not related to DDLC in any way.

IDK, this game worked because people weren't expecting all that twisted stuff to happen. He can't top it now that we are well aware of it. All that can be released now is generic BS.

it's not regression but rather a different project, getting stuck in a loop is the worst thing to happen for devs of the gaming industry as all the major AAA game companies only release the same games over and over. In the AMA he even says that DDLC was aimed at a larger audience, and the next project will prbably more targeted to a smaller demographic. I understand what you're saying and I love this game greatly, i do hope that DDLC will have others of it's kind and style in the future whether from Dan or other indie devs who want that challenge

Honestly, i think he's aiming towards a more regular VN that doesn't have gimmicks like DDLC so that he can put more character developpment into it, he did say himself that he wished that he could have put more of it in DDLC but that he tryied to keep the game simple.

During the AMA, the dev did dodge the questions about PL and 2018 in the files, he did say that his next VN wouldn't be gimmicky.

He never said if it would be a sequel/prequel or if it would be in the same universe at all.

Maybe kinda like a prequel but that "game" would be more like a normal VN, instead of the mechanics that this game has. (4th wall stuff, messing with game files, etc.)

Also if later games do this kind of stuff It wont be special anymore since this 4th wall breaking is special because its not common, and even less when its disguised as a totally different game.

i definately agree but i think there should have been another ending that was an actual good ending the endings we got were great but one truamatized me and the others were kinda anti climatic

i would want something like that aswell which stuck to the traditional trope but still include some similiar story elements. i also wouldnt mind like a reference to ddlc as a quick thing

well maybe he is making it sound like its gonna be a more normal VN the next one, to take us by surprise and make another VN with a twist, but a different one this time ;) I mean part of what made this game so great, is becasue it was unexpected, so if he goes out and say he would make a similar kind of game again, that would sort of be self-contradicting as we would then be expecting it
