Is there suppose to be no music or menu sounds?
The game runs fine but it seems to not make any noises, I'm worried it's not running entirely correctly.

Does the sound still not play if you re-launch the game?

I have relaunched the game, and restarted my computer. Still no sounds
Other VN's play sounds without a problem
I've also verified integrity of game files, it seemed to have found some things missing but even then it has not fixed the issue

Can you find the log.txt file in the game directory and upload it to pastebin.com or a similar site? It might give me an idea of the cause, but it's probably more related to the game engine than DDLC itself. Hopefully the log shows something useful. Also, what OS are you using?

OS is Windows 7 Ultimate

I found that another VN that uses Python files also launches fine but does not produce sound, I'll try reinstalling Python and see if that works.

I think reinstalling Python and restarting my PC made it work again, thanks for the help!

EDIT: After launching it a second time it stopped working again, fug

I would try the download from the website and see if that works.

Got the direct download, same weird issue happens. Plays sound/music after first launch but then re-launching makes it no longer play.

If it helps, when verifying intergrity of game files and having it reinstall whatever files it's regrabbing... the game then asks if I'd like to delete my existing data or continue where I left off. When I click delete, the sound works again until I close the game, and stops working when I re-launch. It stays not working if I click to continue where I left off.

I'm sorry, but this has me stumped.

Same, this is rather odd. I don't see anyone else complaining about the same problem, so it's probably something uniqe with me. If I find a direct solution I'll probably reply it when I can, otherwise I'll just enjoy it for what it is~

Just a little note.
The sound track is very good, I reccomned you check it out.
Also the music really helps the game set the mood, so if you figure it out, I reccomend going back again

Other than deleting my save data, restarting my computer then doing first launch after restarting gets the sound back. It's alil annoying but I am willing to restart my PC every time I need to re-launch so I don't have to skip out on music/sounds since those can be important for setting the moods in VN's. Plus need to appriciate music artests for their efforts put towards a game too d(>_・ )

Yeah, i'm having the same issue. I can't hear the game sounds. I've heard some of the music from the promo video, so i know theirs suppose to be, but i can't hear it.

I too have windows 7, so maybe thats the issue.

I ended up deleting the "firstrun" file in the folder, Doki Doki Literature Club > game, then when the game asks you if you want to start a fresh run, when starting up the game and it promps you if you want to start over, clicking yes for some reason restores the sound until you close the game again. I went through the game in one playthrough.

nice to know that i'm not the only one to have problems with that.
after fiddling around und trying most of the same stuff that you mentioned on my own before now reading about this, it seems to be working for me now, after simply going into the game folder and having the exe running as admin when it starts.
started and exited the game a few times now, to test if that really was the case to fix the no sound issue and everything seems fine, all sounds and music playing without rechecking the files and starting fresh everytime.
so just run the game as admin seems to fix it, atleast for me, hope that helps everyone having this problem.
