Wtf how is this even free

First VN and already one of the best 'games' i've played
I don't like anime and was reluctant to even try this, turned out to be the best decision i made

Now I want to ask the community for any similar titles.

The only other notable free VN on steam is 'everlasting summer'; would that be worth playing? (or a least on the same level as this?)

I haven't played Everlasting Summer, but I would highly recommend Hatoful Boyfriend. The happy premise on the tin hides something much darker and intense, like this.

Well there's not a lot of visual novels like DDLC that are free (most like Higurashi can be $60 or so...).

If you want another really well written VN that's free, I highly suggest Katawa Shoujo.

I've heard Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi[vndb.org] (usually shortened to Totono) is basically Doki Doki Literature Club but cranked up to 1000%. Unfortunately there is currently no English patch for the game but if DDLC interests you this may be something to keep an eye on.

Everlasting Summer is great. Hatoful Boyfriend is cool too, but I believe it is inferior to both ES and Doki-doki (it gets kind of boring after a few routes, since everything is very similar).

Yep, we can buy the DLC to give our thanks to its authors ... and the few extras are nice too
