Couldn't agree more with this guy. Look for games with the visual novel tag.
Just monika
Well, I don't want to be the guy that states the super obvious but.............. you might want to check out this one game called Doki Doki Literature Club.
I haven't read it, but Symphonic Rain kinda gives me the same vibes as the first half of DDLC. They may or may not be similar, though Symphonic Rain would be about piano music rather than poems I guess. Heard good things about it anyway.
Other VNs that might be to your liking: Sharin no Kuni Himawari no Shoujo, Grisaia series, Katawa Shoujo, Hoshizora no Memoria -Wish upon a Shooting Star- (fandisc will come out later)
One thing that needs to be pointed out is that the vast majority of VNs don't just leave you on a depressive note. Most of them will have happy and complete endings, whether it's for a specific girl/boy or the VN as a whole.
This is what I meant. Thanks.
Watch or read Hyouka, which is what the early part of DDLC reminded me off. Not a VN, but well, it's the closest thing i could think of
Although, instead of poetry, Hyouka is about prose literature and detective insights.
Oneshot
this game is MetaFiction same as DDLC and maybe Undertale that the GAME is talking to YOU. yes YOU
Muv-Luv extra is really similar to the beginning of this, though I can't talk much about unlimited.(And the sequel, Alternative)
Literally this.
