Does anyone know if Yuri had been cutting herself all along or just after Monika started messing with her? In Act one, it's revealed that she has a really sharp knife and even a collection of them and is even seen rolling down her sleeves after the MC comes back into the room and apparently she cuts herself when really excited? This is seriously bothering me.

It's implied that she has been cutting herself from the beginning. You get the most hints towards this during her pre-festival scene:

-She wears a heavy turtleneck sweater when she comes to your house, fully covered. The other characters wear much lighter clothing like t-shirts and shorts.

-She has a choice line to describe the sharpness of the pocket knife: "It cuts through skin like paper."

-She quickly rolls down her sleeves as the protagonist re-enters the room after getting water for the paint.

That, and how she laps at the protagonist's finger after it starts bleeding...Shows that she has her fair share of demons well before Monika cranked the dial to 11.

♥♥♥♥, man... What do you think about the part where she mentions isloating herself from things because of her attachment issues? Do you think that's her as well or....Mainly Monika?

I do recall Monika saying to be careful when getting close to her because she's isloated herself and thought maybe that could be the foreshadowing to Yuri's later comment?

I'd like to think it's before Monika's interference. After all, she 'merely untied the knot'.

I was going to say there isn't many hints in Act 1, but yeah, Monika has that quip. That you may hurt her, possibly after learning of her true nature.

Yrui's racoon poem also clearly alludes to her cutting habit early. The metaphor isnt' all that hidden.
