Any good games like this one?
I mean less in the way that it's an interesting visual novel and more in the way that it breaks the fourth wall or has interesting gameplay mechanics similar to DDLC.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Undertale, Nier Automata. Pony Island. Hm.. even Earthbound did it a bit.

Otherwise... Maybe Icey and The Stanley Parable, but all of them are diffrent games and genres, they just all have 4th wall breakes in them.

Wonderful Everyday has the same idea of starting out with cute anime girls doing cute things and then slowly genre shifting into surreal horror.

Analogue: A Hate Story
In Hate+ a character even asks you to bake her a cake.
Both games have file manipulation, but in Hate games you do it inside the game through a special interface, while in DDLC you mess with real files.

Play Irisu Syndrome . It's not on steam, but as far as I know, it's a free game. You can find it here[www.vector.co.jp] (EDIT: sorry, the steam filter doesn't allow me to link to the translation patch... you can find it on Tvtropes, but be really careful with spoilers). It's extremely similar to this one (and indeed, I think having played it a long time ago is the main reason this game didn't manage to shock me that much, despite being great in its own right).

Only thing, it's a puzzle game (think Puzzle Bobble meets Tetris), and quite a hard one at that, so it might be take a while to get used to. Still, I'm sure anyone who liked DDLC would love Irisu.

A little bit of a stretch, but I'd recommend Pathologic Classic HD. Look for it on sale. It's an old game (originally released in 2005) but it was revolutionary for it's time. Sure, the mechanics are a little janky, and the graphics are outdated, but people stay for the story and the art style. If you like a good mind f |_| c k, then the game may be up your alley. It's slow to start, and extremely unforgiving, but I'd urge you to stick with it if you'd consider giving it a whirl.
