because it doesn't represent what the final game will be. I hope they do another. But the game is pretty cheap right now for preorder.

why what? why there is no demo? a lot of games get demos on release (eventually). otherwise what the post above me says.
nobody needs a demo atm imho, let them get the game done, since they now have an official release date with game pass release as well. if they mess this up... so yeah, i rather not have a demo. i buy it anyway too.

oh, i do know about that one. but wasn't that just for backers? it was not officially released i think. it changed a lot i think, since greenlight and that 2017 alpha.

There might be a number of reasons just off the top of my head.
1 No demo because it could hurt sales if not many people like it ?
2 No time to do a demo, for some reason.

A demo would be nice though.

most likely both. a demo at this point can't show the end quality of the game fully. that's why most demos also get removed after the Steam Next Fest. some remain, but most are timed. and the main reason is to show it for a week, then remove it for quality reasons again. removal p*sses off a lot, but a bad demo would do the same.

if you want to take time as a reason, that could also be. they're in the end phase before release, which is much more important than a demo.

if you want to tryy first and buy later, game pass is the cheapest way. they often offer 3 months for $3 total. so risk-free basically. i already pre-installed it. although it just installs a few files and most likely just blocks the needed space. but i will definitely stream it the minute it is playable. want to do a full play-through stream with it. so i hope it is at least 6-10 hrs or so.

Demos take time and other resources away from working on the game. Theyre actually a lot of effort. It's a luxury most developers don't have.

Demos are not as easy as just slicing off a peace of cake and serving it...

well... you still have to work on it and reduce the download size. there is more to it than just adding a timer, which could be cracked too... so a demo needs to be really limited. timed demos suck btw. but if a demo ends after one level or so, that is fine. those 30 mins or so then shut down demos are crap imho.

well i guess you will not play it then anytime soon... if there ever will be one, since the game is not an MMO or open-world survival game, ppl would just finish it and not buy it. Single-player games barely get free weekends. wouldn't make much sense and certainly not sell any copies.
i mentioned it before... game pass got it on release and you can get game pass for $1 if you just start with it. you will not be able to play it any cheaper.
