Scorn

Let's say they're rising funds for a sequel
or an expansion for the current game. Given all the flaws that it has. Would you still be interested in what they could come up with? Would you buy it?

Yeah I know. But hypothetically. What about Scorn as a franchise? Even if someone else developss it

I probably would not purchase any additional DLC or content.

I would be honestly surprised if the devs actually patch and add anything to this game without a charge.

This is my personal opinion- but after seeing the devs working on this project for 8 years or more, I would assume the devs want to distance themselves. Many players are not happy with the way this "game" came out- and unless they add all of the missing content from the Art Book (LOL) and balance and patch the game, most goodwill from a chunk of the player base is possibly lost.

Every game has stuff left on cutting room floor, usually less is more.

Adding to my above post the fact the game also surprisingly launched a week early- when there is so many problems with saving and checkpoints, getting caught on environment objects and other wonkiness and you possibly have a PR nightmare on your hands. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense from a devlopment aspect to rush to the finish line unless they knew they could not fix any of the issues in a week's time, patch anything in time, or make any changes that would correct some of the glaring issues seen in reviews and comments on these forums.

Could it be there was pressure from Microsoft to get it on Gamepass ASAP?

Who knows?

Why didn't EBB polish this until the minute? Oh well.

I can agree with that- But when entire sections of the game were left out and would have clearly been integral to the "world-building" and "in-game interpretive story" it doesn't look great.

They honestly may have hurt themselves by having all of the cut content in the artbook imho. Because it showcases their vision and process and how much was cut. This isn't a few sketches- this is whole areas, creatures, environment objects, etc.

You have to keep in mind that Scorn as it is now, is pretty polished. It does waht it does well. There are no empty spaces and everthing is part of a puzzle or has a purpose. It is very defined. If they stuffed the other areas in just for the sake of it, they could possibly become empty, shallow, just not filled with the attention to detail as we see it in the actual release. They might have done the right thing, removing what was not ripe for release, even though it could've been an interesting addition

Time will tell I guess.

I'll be honest if they have an audacity to make a rogulike spinoff with same assets but different(systemic) game structure.. I would buy it

Absolutely i'll keep an eye on them, like i did with The Chinese Room after Dear Esther and Lka (italian like me by the way) after The town of light, and both i wasn't disappointed, i got Machine for Pigs, still one of my favorite, Everyone's going to Rapture and Martha is dead, a really shocking story.
Let them express and i think they'll make great things.

By the way, there's no need for Scorn 2, the story it's self contained and complete.

I totally agree. They clearly ran out of time/money after Act 4 and had to rush Act 5 to release.

I'd love to buy it. I'm super happy with what we got, so more of it would be perfect.
Kohryujin Oct 18, 2022 @ 5:40pm
I want more of this world to explore, so yeah, I'd buy it.
Porkhammer Oct 18, 2022 @ 6:05pm
I'd pay for more of this.

This is the norm in all development.
