(Don't get me wrong I enjoyed Scorn but I don't really recommend it to anyone due to the price)
I think it was removed simply because the demo does not represent the finished product and they simply didn't want people to play the Alpha and go 'where is all of this!? We were lied too!" as most usually do in alpha and beta builds that fully state they don't represent the game.
A lot of things can play nice in a small testing area but can cause a lot of havoc in other areas where the best solution is simply to just cut it.
Best example I can give is developers from Heroes of the Storm made a length comment about a character they added and because of her they had to COMPLETELY go back and redesign things and every new map that came out she had to instantly be thought of so she wouldn't cause so much problems.
The demo was not publicly available - only to backers of the game. Your argument doesn't make any sense, given that the only people having access to the demo also have access to the full game, and said game is now released.
How does it not make sense?
Enlighten me what point didn't make sense?
Can backers not throw up the alpha build and start going on about how much is not in the main game?
My argument was the demo was removed from people because you have the full product now.
The alpha build does not represent the game.
It is no longer necessary for it to exist.
I don't know to any developers that allow alpha or beta builds of their game to exists after the full product is released that is within their control to restrict access to.
Edit
Found one:

Looks like the game STILL exists on Steam servers.
Game weights 8.6 GB
Edit:
Although the game sort of works... It crashes really fast.
