It's not like there's much of a game here, anyway. Look at most the comments from most people who enjoy Scorn, and you'll notice a pattern. The vast majority of at least the ones here on this forum seem more interested in an interactive movie than a video game. There's really no downside to giving them one. Just disabling monster spawners and weapons would be enough. The only complication is the last boss and the few consoles where you have to use the Jackhammer.
I had only two situation like this. In the first one, I just ran away (when I went back, all creatures were gone). In the second one, I had a shotgun, so I killed the bull-like creature and run away from the second one.
Bad combat is bad, and the combat in-game is one if the worst systems I've seen in recent memory. The system is clunky as hell and distracts more than it actually adds to the game. Couple with a non-existent save system and it's no wonder people are calling this trainwreck.
Either make a walking simulator or a survival-shooter. This neither, but it has the worst parts of both. Like slapping a shotgun onto Myst but taking away any of the story elements. The combat adds nothing to the game, and in my oppinion the game would actually benefit from it you'd simply removed the guns and made it so the player had to avoid enemies. Not withstanding that the enemies are for more "A" than "I".
You're not forced to use brute force.
You have a single mandatory fight and it's pretty quick if you know what to do, then you're deprived of any weapons.
You're just beating a dead horse.
Nothing is forced on you other than walk and reach the end.
