Maybe you should had informed yourself before you bought this game. See it as a lession of how to get games. Just because there are guns, doesn't mean it has to be a shooter.
And don’t say “it’s not a shooter”. It has an arsenal of weapons, health powerups, aggressive enemies and brutally punishing checkpoint system, so it’s clearly a shooter, though a rather poor one.
I didnt want to spoil the game unlike most people do but the trailer showed guns so bang bang. but its still functions more poorly than agony.
Dying should just respawn you with full HP. Basically stuck on a section with 1 HP and its completely miserable. That's the only way I could defend the enemies but I much preferred doing the puzzles and stuff and enjoying myself over ripping my hair out trying to evade these enemies with 1 hp.
Right, just because there are guns in the trailer, it means that the game is a shooter. Right. If I would follow this logic, then I should expect that ever Resident Evil game has a resident in the game. Just because doesn't mean it has to be.
By the way, there are spoiler free reviews online, you only have to search for it in Google. And honestly, you compare this with Agony??? Are you kidding me? Agony comes not even close to this game, let alone from the story telling part. And the functions are not poorly at all.
But in the end, if you dislike the game, just refund it and get something better.
Fragile? It takes a lot to kill your character and the weapons are actually pretty strong and effective if you know how to use them. Hell, the shotgun can even take out the big ones with two shots. What more do you need?? Oh, and the starter weapon is not a weapon... it is a tool. A drilling tool to be honest, that can activate machines throughout in the game.
But by your logic, Super Mario Bros should be a shooter because you fire Fireballs at the enemies. But this is not a true shooter, it only gives you the tools, nothing else. What you do with it, is up to you. Hell, you can even finish the game without killing one enemy (without counting the two baby bosses).
Aside of the one boss fight, you don't even need to use the guns at all. Every enemy disappears after a while.
After a normal run, I was missing 1 achievement(001 extraction), so I got that achievement, then it somehow turned into a complete pacifist run (forced to kill 2 bosses). I did attack a few enemies to avoid them, but never killed them. I never fired my gun until phase 2 and 3 (second boss) of the final boss.
I actually died a lot less avoiding all the enemies, though it helped already knowing where they spawn.
My second run was actually a much more satisfying experience, but I'll probably still never touch the game again.
I found this game is actually much easier with a controller. Being able to maneuver is more important than accuracy in this game.
