It's not aimless, though? Everytime you fail you learn something. You figure out what eggs you can pick up ,even after the first one explodes. The others except those bright ones interact with it. So the first one explodes. You try the second, since the others can't be grabbed. You obviously have to grab something and it's not the solid ones...
Context clues. Not everyone is good at them and that's okay, but I wouldn't say it's aimless.
I just finished the first puzzle and was so incredibly disappointed, when I first came upon it to see that it was a sliding puzzle - Sliding puzzles are the most derivative, uninspired, lazy, and boring type of puzzle. After waiting so many years for this game and that being my first impression was so concerning. I do hope it gets better.
I will give it another go later but I am not looking forward too it.
