Also, it's not just about measured nits but perceived contrast. You can only get the infinite contrast effect with OLED. Which is why HDR looks so good on OLED despite not being nearly as bright.

Wow. As everyone else has said, you really have no clue what you are talking about. HDR is amazing, and if you can't see it, you need some glasses buddy.
Performance isn't terrible at all. It's arguably the best thing about the game. It's not a demanding game in the slightest.

If your black looks like gray in HDR, you're doing something very very wrong.
Yes, Reshade has an AutoHDR addon too, you need real HDR to use it, but a little hassle to tune it.
It's similar to a child who just found out the "bass boost" option in their equalizer.
What exactly are you adding with ReShade that the developer could not have added themselves if they wanted to?
Do you think you have superior artistic intent than the people who spent all that time creating the game? The developers had no idea when they were making the game, but you, you're the one who knows what to tweak to make the game look *extra* good?
You can improve the colorgrading based on the monitor you have, you can fix bad HDR, you can improve texture detail with adaptive sharpening, you can add raytraced global illumination, the list goes on forever, you probably have never really used it. At least it sounds that way.
