How do you craft new iteams?

As it is stated in the title.

You unlock the ability to craft in the upper left menu option in the base screen. Buy all upgrades first, then click the other tab for the crafting menu. In order to unlock item crafting, you need to first scrap the corresponding item. So to craft a Heavy Melee Weapon, you need to scrap a Heavy Melee Weapon or Mod first, in this menu.

After that, you get three attempts at crafting a desirable item. In order to get more attempts, you need to scrap another item of any type. I think there are a total of 9 possible attempts.

So in other words, you need a lot of credits and a lot of items to craft something that has only the 1-3 cards you want and the desired abilities.

I do this by selling weapon- and tool cores, which are worth more. I keep just the mods for crafting.

It seems to be part of the Deep Sky Derelicts - Station Life DLC

First, you buy the downloadable expansion, because the basic game doesn't have crafting.
