This or Slay the Spire?
I'm not a card game aficionado, I just want something to chill with. This or STS?

STS is significantly more expensive in my region, but not unattainable.

They're different play experiences. StS takes about an hour per run and is more of a card game proper, while DSD takes perhaps 5-6 hours per run and has a focus on RPG-ish exploration. I'd say StS is easier to get into and more intense, while DSD have more mechanics to figure out - more thought to it.

STS no question. This game is kinda jank. I'm trying to like it, but this game bugged out after I killed the first boss. Nothing in this is intuitive and the tutorial is crap.

Did you use the Codex/Glossary? It's very useful for understanding things that might not be clear.

I don't think games like these aren't meant to be that intuitive - the fun is in figuring out different strategies. It takes commitment - StS is cardbattle driven like Hearthstone where things like counters matter a lot while this and Darkest Dungeon emphasize RPG-like party management.

You're not going to hard counter anything here, it's more about optimizing effectiveness, synergistic buffing, etc - it reminds me a little of playing Dragon Quest in that way.

I like the game a lot for that reason, personally. I don't like straight RPG games anymore but I have a lot of good memories playing DWIII on my GameBoy and this recaptures that feeling for me again because there's a level of randomness to the moves you have.

Building a single character up, trying to find the right combo of buffs, and really hoping RnG doesn't kill off your fancy new setup keeps a lot of this game fresh but it can also be challenging in that way because there's just so much going on.

So I think anyone who likes card games but also has played a few RPGs can really get into the mechanics. And if you're into that Nostromo ghost ship vibe, that helps a lot too :)

StS by a huge margin, but that is only because it is such a great game. I love everything about it - even when I lose it is fun.

I've only got 2 hours in this so far, but like mentioned above, it is quite different, and I enjoy it also. I'd also like to see a better UI where you could equip within a sell screen, some more tooltips would be nice (what the hell is a circle?), and the ship maps are a bit lackluster, but I like it.

You should try Oxygen Not Included there's literally pretty much nothing explained in the game lol you have to read whatever you can find in the in-game dictionary and just sort of wing it.
