Inputs are messed up with or without the Sneaky Upgrade
Hey there. I'm having some serious issues with the game and I don't know how to fix them. I've tried both the vanilla game and the Sneaky Upgrade patch, the issues are consistent on both.

Basically, all scroll bars in the menus constantly scroll up no matter what I do. If I scroll down via keys or the mouse wheel, the game will automatically scroll back up. This makes it impossible to change the controls or the video settings.

The second issue, which is far more severe because it makes the game unplayable, is that Garret will continuously walk forward as if I was pressing W. I installed the ReShade fix that comes with Sneaky Upgrade (cause I'm using Windows 10) but it didn't make any difference. I read that the game had compatibility issues with W10, so I tried running the executable in compatibility mode but the issue still persists.

Any idea on how I could possibly fix these? I don't know what else I can do.

Would you happen to have a joystick or game pad plugged into your computer at the same time?

No. I use a generic keyboard and a Logitech G502. Could maybe one of my peripherals be considered a gamepad by the game?

Ok, I'm commenting again because I managed to fix the issue. Turns out that the problem is isolated to the Minimalist Project mod, as I just played on a fresh installation with the Sneaky Upgrade installed (with the Minimalist Project disabled) and I had no issues. The problem persisted before, after I removed the Sneaky Upgrade, because I didn't use the uninstaller, I just deleted the files manually.

I haven't fully tested which of the Minimalist Project options causes the issue, but note that if you have the same problem, patching up the game via the Sneaky Upgrade without activating the Minimalist Project may solve it.

this is an old thread but I thought I'd answer anyway; thief 3 sometimes registers phantom gamepad input. sneaky tweaker has an option to "ignore all controller input" under "gamepad." might wanna try enabling minimalist project and seeing if that setting fixes it?

Just to add, I'm doing a playthrough of this and it was simpler for me *not* to use DS4Windows with my PS4 gamepad. Normally I would use DS4Windows (to mimic X-Box buttons) but with this game it works with my PS4 controller vanilla out the box, which is a pretty nice touch for such an old game really. Yes I could play it with just k/b and mouse but I like the feel of the controller better as it allows for precise movement and slow camera pans. And yes, couldn't play it without the Sneaky Upgrade, essential
